Hotel Lucia is a historic building with a lot of charm and character. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by an impressive collection of Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer David Hume Kennerly.
Both dogs and cats are welcome for a one-time fee of $65. They’ll be settled in with a comfy bed, food and water bowls, and even a welcome kit with treats and toys.
The location is perfect if you want to be close to the action downtown—Powell’s City of Books and Tom McCall Waterfront Park are nearby, so you can really get into the city’s vibe while staying with your pet.
Plus, there’s a park just a block away. The riverfront is also only half a mile away, providing convenient spots to unwind with your pet in tow!

Hyatt House Portland/Downtown is a chill post for dog lovers like me. It’s just two blocks from the Willamette River, so I enjoyed some morning walks with my dog along the water.
For just $75 per week, my dog received welcome treats and pet bowls upon request, which made it feel like a mini vacation for both of us.
They do have a weight limit, though. They’re cool with 50 lbs per dog or 75 lbs if you bring two. And sorry, no cats are allowed here.
The suites with kitchenettes are awesome if you plan on staying for a while. Being able to cook my own meals was super convenient and really gave the place a “homey” feel. There’s also a 24-hour market for a quick snack or something to cook up.
Pro tip: Take advantage of the hotel’s Outdoor Commons area—it’s got a fire pit and BBQ. It’s a chill spot to hang out or unwind after a busy day.

Hotel Rose—A Staypineapple Hotel just feels bright and upbeat, especially with its “Naked Experience.” For ultimate comfort, you get European-style duvets, cozy robes, and plush towels.
While they’re dog-obsessed, Hotel Rose has welcomed cats, hedgehogs, and pigs. They totally spoil fur babies with a bed, food and water bowls, and treats. You can bring dogs (no weight limit) for a daily fee of $25.
While I left my dog in the room, I enjoyed their complimentary afternoon coffee, signature pineapple treats, and the beach cruiser bicycles for exploring the city.
Pro tip: During Afternoon Delights, from 3:30 to 6:30 PM, you can grab free pineapple treats and drinks in the lobby. It’s a sweet little perk that will add some fun to your day!

Residence Inn Portland Downtown/RiverPlace is an extended-stay hotel right in Portland’s South Waterfront area—close to the river and just a short walk from spots like the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) and the Oregon Convention Center.
The suites are super spacious and feel cozy enough for pets to move around comfortably. Each unit has a fully equipped kitchen and separate living areas, making it easy to settle in.
The grocery delivery service and on-site convenience store were lifesavers, especially when I didn’t feel like heading out for snacks and pet treats.
There’s a non-refundable fee of $150 per stay plus $20 per night for our pets, which I found worth it for the convenience. They even provide pet beds, food, water bowls, and sometimes treats—just check ahead since it’s subject to availability.
You can bring up to two pets per room, as long as they’re under 80 lbs each. Just keep in mind that your pet needs to be safely crated if it’s left alone in the room.
Pro tip: The Portland Streetcar and MAX Light Rail are just a block away from the Residence Inn. It’s a super easy way to get around and check out spots like the Pearl District!

Pro tip: Don’t forget to grab the signature chocolate chip cookie at check-in—it’s a warm, sweet welcome just for you! For your furry buddy, be sure to ask for some treats specifically for them too.

The Hotel Zags Portland is a chill spot right in the heart of Portland’s Business District. The rooms have an eclectic design, with funky art on the walls and cool modern furniture—definitely a nice blend of urban style and Portland flair.
They welcome up to two dogs per room with no breed or weight restrictions. My baby was given a cozy bed, a water bowl, and comfy linens to settle in for a $45 pet fee.
Another thing I loved was the Gear Shed. It totally matched Portland’s adventurous spirit. They have bikes, skateboards, and other fun gear for guests to borrow, so I could cruise around the city.
We spent some time in the pet-friendly courtyard, and the staff even gave me some great tips on dog-friendly parks and restaurants around town.

Royal Sonesta Portland Downtown is a nice blend of old-school charm and modern style. I’m in love with the quirky touches of custom bird wallpaper in the rooms.
It’s also super close to a lot of the city’s highlights, like Powell’s City of Books and great parks, so I was able to easily take my dog out for some fresh air and exercise.
They really make sure your pets feel welcome just as you do. My dog got a welcome package with a comfy bed, water bowl, waterproof mats, and a few treats.
During my stay, I had access to a 24/7 fitness center, a cozy bar, and an on-site restaurant. It’s a comfortable, no-fuss kind of place that gives you both the city’s energy and a cozy spot to relax after a day of exploring.
