Hayhurst is located in Portland’s southwest corner, right on the edge of Washington County. 

It’s surrounded by Raleigh Hills and Beaverton to the west, with Bridlemile to the north. Then, there’s Hillsdale to the east, and Maplewood and Multnomah to the south. 

What is the main street in Hayhurst? 

The main street in Hayhurst is SW 30th Avenue. It runs through the heart of this charming neighborhood.

How to Get to Hayhurst

Via bus: In Portland, take the Line 54 bus at W Burnside & SW 5th. All schedules for this trip will have multiple stops, but you only have to get off at SW Beaverton-Hillsdale & 50th. 

This will take about 19 to 25 minutes.

Via taxi or private car: To get to Hayhurst from downtown Portland, head north on SW 4th Ave. Then, turn right onto SW Salmon St, and take another right onto S Naito Pkwy. 

Continue on Pacific Hwy W for about 2.6 miles, then take the OR-10 W exit toward Hillsdale/Beaverton. 

Follow OR-10 W, then turn left onto SW Capitol Hwy. Continue onto SW Vermont St and finally turn right onto SW 50th Ave to arrive in Hayhurst.

Gabriel Park is a true gem for those who love to soak in the outdoors. 

Here, you’ll find the Gabriel Park Nature Patch, which features native and ornamental plants. It’s perfect for that peaceful afternoon stroll or casual picture-taking. 

For those who love a bit of adventure, there’s also a nice skatepark here. Built in 2008, this 10,000-square-foot facility is ideal for enthusiasts and beginners alike. 

It offers a unique snake run that includes an impressive 9-foot-deep bowl for a thrilling experience. 

Families with young kids will also appreciate the playground at Gabriel Park, which has been recently upgraded to be inclusive and accessible to all. Picnic tables are thoughtfully placed in shaded spots nearby, so it’s easy for parents to watch their little ones and relax.

Albert Kelly Park offers plenty of room to walk your dog without feeling crowded. The park’s natural environment—complete with chirping birds and plenty of squirrels—makes it an ideal spot for a nice stroll while your furry friend gets some exercise.

Most visitors are mindful of leashing their dogs when they encounter others, so there’s definitely a friendly vibe here. Just make sure to keep enough treats and poop bags with you, especially if you’re planning to spend the entire day here.

By the way, the park is in a tucked-away location, so it’s actually a bit of a lesser-known spot in this otherwise busy part of town. 

You can enter the park from Mitchell, Stonebrook, or 35th. After a short walk, you’ll find yourself in this area. If all else fails, there’s Google Maps!

The center’s indoor pool area is packed with kid-friendly features. This includes a thrilling water slide, shallow areas for little swimmers, and even a water sprayer with interactive valves and wheels.

Pro tip: the center operates on timed sessions to help manage capacity. They usually allow only 2 hours of swimming. 

If you’re looking to swim for an hour or less, you can often skip the wait by arriving halfway through an open swim session.

In addition to the pool, the Southwest Community Center also has a variety of fitness classes and a well-equipped gym. It might be a nice place for you to work out while the kids enjoy the water!
