Pros
- Offers in-person and virtual classes
- Focused on health-conscious recipes
- Flexible communication
- Specializes in cooking techniques and creative recipes
- Open for team building and employee wellness
Cons
- Limited range of cooking class themes
Lauren Chandler offers a different approach to cooking classes that many customers appreciate. Offering online classes, this class is ideal for prospective students who prefer convenience above all.
Despite the virtual setup, we find it delightful how extremely knowledgeable Chandler is when it comes to food preparation. In fact, past clients often give light to the chef’s talent, particularly when cooking techniques and experimenting.
What’s more interesting is that the classes are centered on more health-conscious recipes which we totally adore. But of course, you can also offer your two cents on the recipe creation so there’s a lot of room to be creative.
By the way, this place isn’t only open for virtual cooking classes, like most schools, they offer in-person classes too. The instructor-to-student ratio is pretty respectable, so students can expect small classes which allow for individual attention.
We wish there were more flexibility in terms of class types and the kinds of cuisines you can try. But other than that, we’re happy with their communication; knowledge and skills; and ability to provide helpful feedback throughout the class.
Overall, this place is a good choice if you’re feeling bold with the recipes you want to try and need to improve your culinary skills. We’re sure you won’t be breaking the bank too so may want to hit them up for upcoming classes.

Pros
- Private Table & Group Class available
- Wide range of menu courses/classes
- Accommodates a limited number of students per class (14 to 28)
- Wide cooking space per students
- Emails the recipe at the end of the class
- Flexible scheduling of classes
- Does quarterly rotation of menus
Cons
- Currently not accommodating rebooking of classes
If we’re talking about the range of cooking classes, Cookin’ Class can surely accommodate you. With the number of lessons and exercises they give to aspiring chefs, you’re definitely in for a good culinary experience.
First, let’s introduce you to the type of classes they have, which are labeled as Private Table & Group Classes. Private table is our personal favorite by the way since it provides personal space for you and your friends/family to cook together.
Now, what we also find fascinating is the large selections of menus you can learn from them. You can master the different types of menus they teach including date night (for those aged 18+), all age class, all around the world, and brunch class.
Plus, the scheduling of classes with them is quite flexible, since they only limit the number of students (14 to 28) for a menu course. However, they don’t currently accommodate the rebooking of classes, which for us is just fair, given the amount of preparation.
Since in total, they do 40 recipes to teach, we really do wonder how they manage to provide new things to their students. Thankfully, they do a quarterly rotation of menus, where they take turns of the said number of classes and the new ones they invent.
Of course, there are some amenities for their students to enjoy while learning. You can enjoy their free snacks, their bar, aprons (aside from the free use of tools and equipment), and lastly the readily available and free actual parking lot for their students.

Pros
- Offers cooking classes on a wide range of cuisine
- Online Cooking Classes available
- Cooking classes, online or not, are taught by world-class chefs
- Recipes can be modified to meet their clients need
- Reasonable prices
- Cookware available for shopping
Cons
- Minor issues with the gift cards
- Poor availability of some of the classes
- Limited number of chefs
Cozymeal Cooking Classes offers all of its clients in all of its locations, including Portland, delectable dishes to learn from. Be it Asian cuisine, Italian, vegetarian, French, and so much more, their chefs can introduce you to whichever food you want to learn to cook.
What makes us think they’re such a recommendable cooking class is the fact that all of the classes they provide are 5-star rated by their previous students. This alone speaks to the quality of cooking classes you can acquire from them.
However, as we’ve heard, there were still some minor issues with their service, specifically in their responses to bookings. The poor notes on their bookings, however, are due to the use of gift cards, which is the thing that brings the inconvenience, as per the reviews.
On a much brighter side, interested clients can attend their classes in the comfort of their kitchen with Cozymeal’s Online Cooking Classes. Although it’s a virtual class, there’s still a real-time conversation plus, our favorite part, the home delivery of ingredients.
For their rates, if we are being honest, we find it incredibly reasonable since their cheapest course is $75 per person, for a 3-hour class. On the other hand, no classes are more than a hundred and ten dollars.
The only downside about their classes is the poor availability of some of them which we didn’t find definite reasons for. The only basis we look at is the fact that most of them are in-demand classes but they only have a limited number of chefs.

Pros
- Cooking school for teenagers and children of all ages
- Online class available
- Meals from scratch
- Private cooking class available
- Affordable rates
- Kid-friendly environment
Cons
- Always sold out
- Cost to travel to your home or other venue comes with additional fee
Let’s say you’re looking for the best cooking school for your children, and since there are a lot of them in the Portland-area, choosing the right one is hard. Fortunately, The Merry Kitchen teaches teenagers and children of all ages to cook.
The very first reason why we want you to consider them is that they’re surprisingly affordable. As a matter of fact, children’s classes with them are $40 per child that generally run for two hours (another price applies for younger kids and summer camps).
However, private cooking lessons will definitely cost you much more. Although it’s a lot, we kind of like their style with these private sessions since it can give your child quick learnings, particularly for special diets (seeing as it is customized).
We also would like to highlight that they’re always sold out on cooking sessions and camps. This, for use, gives away how they are loved by the children and their families in the area, just make sure you book early.
Additionally, they always launch the next available classes for the next month on their website. This, we think, would be of great help for those looking forward to a ‘The Merry Kitchen’ kind of class minus the hassle of long waiting.
Another plus point in the matter of convenience is the fact that they allow online signing up for a personal class, while online classes are also available, of course. For additional information, they also do private parties, but that’s another topic for another day.

Pros
- Home for cooking classes in Southeast Portland
- Provides top-notch kitchen studio, equipped with needed kitchenware
- Accommodating environment/place
- Class options for after school, weekend baking, several weeks of camps
- Partnered with several local farms to provide best local ingredients for their classes
- Teachers are Region’s most celebrated chefs and food artisans
- Hosts various events as well
Cons
- Classes for limited days in a week only
If there’s one thing that Cookshop is proud of besides the top-notch cooking classes they offer, it’s the kind of place they have. We personally had some visits with them and we definitely attest to their warm and welcoming environment.
For instance, they have this captivating kitchen studio that they use for their class accommodation – all equipped with needed cookware. Some of their clients, based on the reviews, do find their place cute, fun, and lighthearted.
Unfortunately, not all of them are pleased with the atmosphere that Cookshop has. Some of them do find it somewhat too stiff, which is a rare occurrence although concerning, but the beautiful plants do help in striking a balance.
On the other hand, we’ve heard that the ones who’ll be teaching the class are their in-house region’s most celebrated chefs and food artisans. Apparently, it’s one of the advantages you’ll get if you are a student of Cookshop.
That being said, we reckon that they have what it takes to help young cooks achieve their most awaited culinary experience. Not only them but also for adults looking for anything to like about how to cook and prepare authentic foods from around the world.
Sadly, we find their availability of classes unsatisfactory, since as of this writing, their classes are taking place on Saturdays, Mondays, & Tuesdays, with an occasional Saturday evening class. However, this is just how we look at it, after all, it’s still up to your taste of convenience.

Pros
- Specializes in Italian food
- Open daily for lunch or dinner
- Personalizable classes
Cons
- Website design can be updated
If you’re looking to learn how to make great Italian food, then we’ve got the best cooking class for you at Napoli That’s Amore!
Portland is a city that’s perfect for foodies so one of it’s greatest attractions is food! This is why we think it would be an excellent idea to spend a few hours to learn how to cook Italian food and learn from Chef Renato.
We think it’s such a pleasure to experience their cooking classes because Chef Renato doesn’t hold back when he teaches. He shares all the knowledge he can from where you can buy the freshest ingredients to how to cook dishes perfectly.
He’s also extremely patient with his students and takes the time to help them gain the skill and confidence to create Italian dishes. Plus, we think he’s fun and friendly too.
We like that they provide everything too. You simply just have to show up and have the best experience!
They’re open daily for lunch or dinner and you can even personalize your classes.
We haven’t heard from one past student that didn’t love Chef Renato’s cooking classes so we can’t help but recommend!
Our only comment is that the website can be updated to appear more attractive and to add more information about the cooking classes.
