Where is Linnton?

Linnton is located in Northwest Portland along a scenic stretch of the Willamette River and Forest Park. Tualatin Hills is situated to its west. It also runs along NW St. Helens Road, stretching 5.25 miles long.

The main street in Linnton is NW St. Helens Road (US Route 30). This road runs through the heart of this town and connects it to both industrial areas and nearby neighborhoods along the Willamette River.
How to Get to Linnton
Via bus: To reach Linnton via bus, take the TriMet #16-Front Ave/St. Helens Road line. This connects Linnton with downtown Portland, St. Johns, and Sauvie Island.
Via car: From central Portland, take US Route 30 (NW St. Helens Road). If you’re starting downtown, head onto I-405 N, then merge onto US-30 North/Front Ave.
If you’re coming from the west (Sauvie Island or Forest Park), simply follow US-30 eastbound toward the bridge. You’ll pass park entrances and hillside trails before reaching Linnton.
Note: There is no direct rail service to Linnton, as MAX doesn’t reach it.
What to Do and See in Linnton
1. Visit the Pittock Mansion

Pittock Mansion is the perfect place to enjoy panoramic views of Portland and Mount Hood. Come by early morning, and you may just catch the skyline bathed in golden light. The photo ops here alone are worth the visit!
For a day tour, you can start with a hike up from Hoyt Arboretum and enjoy the scenic trail. You’ll pass through gardens and pathways lined with flowers, so take the time to enjoy the peace and quiet.
Parking is available and costs $2 per hour or $8 for the day. There are usually no lines, though it’s still best to arrive on a weekday morning when it’s less crowded. Tickets are available, but active military members and their families may get in free.
2. Bring the fam to Washington Park

Washington Park is packed with areas to explore. You can start your day at the Rose Test Garden and enjoy more than 10,000 roses in every shade you can imagine. There are even a few bees hovering around the blooms.
Just above the rose garden, the Japanese Garden offers a different vibe. The entry fee is worth it for the beautiful landscapes with koi points, stone paths, and humble teahouses. There’s even a tiny cafe near the entrance.
If you’re visiting with kids, they’ll love the Oregon Zoo. There are plenty of shady picnic spots, but do note that the place is card-only, so only bring a few bills. There’s a 5 to 7-minute train ride too for the kiddos.
3. Enjoy the views at St. Johns Bridge

One of the best ways to experience Linnton is to walk across the stunning St. Johns Bridge. To get there, you can start at Cathedral Park and take the pedestrian path over the bridge.
There may be a lot of people in the area, so try to do it as early as you can.
The elevated walkway offers the perfect spot for incredible views of the Willamette River (you may even see cruise ships passing down below). The bridge’s Gothic style and signature green color pop up beautifully against the skyline.
Crossing the bridge puts you right at the edge of Forest Park, and Linnton’s hiking trails are easily accessible from here. Take the Ridge Trail and you’ll be connected to the woods, where locals often go for their usual morning walks.

Lighthouse is the kind of place that you go to after a day of riding at Rocky Point. It’s a great spot to snag some sandwiches like the delicious grilled ahi, which is seared just right to give that smoky flavor.
You can also grab their pulled pork sandwich that’s smoky and rich, and served with never-frozen fries. With a Miller beer on the side, you can expect to spend a little under $20 here. Don’t like beer? There’s a $10 cranberry cocktail too!

Need cannabis? La Cannaisseur (also known as Discount Cannabis) is your friend. The prices here are almost unbelievable – you can find high-quality bulk flower, mid and top-shelf options, and even super affordable prerolls.
Some customers even drive from Scappoose just to shop here. Who can’t blame them – their $3 half-gram options and great dabs are simply hard to beat. Plus, they have a rock collection, which customers often add to just for funsies.
Beyond the deals, the atmosphere is also a major draw. The space, under new ownership, had been renovated. Now, it looks even more fantastic – it’s clean and bright, making shopping super stress-free.

St. Johns Inn offers some of the most impressive views of the Willamette River. And the best part is, you get sights of downtown, Mt. Hood, and Forest Park no matter which room you book.
As for rooms, the Penthouse Suite is the perfect choice for those who want a big space. It has 2 queen beds, a kitchenette, a full bath, and a private entrance. The fees are high, but they’re reasonable for the quality of service.
