Portland Alterations is known for their high-quality work across a wide range of garment needs. While they’re especially experienced with formal wear, many of their clients were just as happy with their casual transformations, including denim pants and jackets. 

We found it super convenient, like a one-stop shop for nearly everything. They handle everything from basic hemming and resizing to more complex work like bridal and suits.  

Clients often praise their hemming work. Tailors here are known for preserving the original look, even with complex stitching, which speaks volumes about their attention to detail. 

We also appreciate the approachable nature of the process, with easy online scheduling and clear communication throughout. Clients we spoke to said they felt understood and appreciated the shop’s friendly, efficient service. 

Another thing we love is the fast turnaround. Same-day pick-up is available, which is a big win for anyone on a tight schedule. Many customers who didn’t opt for same-day also reported getting their clothes back by the next morning, which is still very fast.

That said, we’ve heard a few concerns about how issues with altered garments were handled, particularly when damage was involved. 

Some felt that the shop’s response could have been more empathetic and solution-oriented, rather than overly focused on defending their position.

Designing your dream wedding gown is exciting, and from what we’ve seen, Valentina European Alteration helps make the experience of bringing it to life just as special.

Clients often praised the tailor’s ability to truly understand their needs. Several shared how the team brought their vision to life, with results that “fit like a glove”, a clear sign of their attention to detail and dedication to quality. 

We also appreciate how transparent and reasonable the pricing is. Wedding dress alterations start at $170. There’s also a full price list online, which really helps with planning and expectations. 

A lot of love goes into their sleeve work as well. Some brides loved the added detachable sleeves, while others admired the fact that their sleeves were sewn entirely by hand. 

Their services go beyond bridalwear too. One of our teammates got his suit altered here, and we were impressed with the quality of the stitching and just how well it fits him after.

That said, not everyone had a similar experience with our teammate. There were a few reports of inconsistent quality, like uneven stitching or cuts on skirts and coats. 

While these seem rare, it’s something to be mindful of. Quality checks at pick-up help ensure everything meets expectations.

Within 10 days my dress was transformed in a good way. 

“Valentina saved the day on my wedding dress which a different seamstress had messed up (and charged me $250 for poor work). We’re always on the lookout for affordable prices, especially when big events (like weddings) already come with a hefty price tag. That’s why Neighboring Alterations caught our attention. 

Customers consistently rave about their reasonable pricing and quick turnaround times. As listed on their page, taking in or letting out the sides of a wedding dress runs between $120 – 150. It’s easy to see why so many people keep coming back. 

Their fast turnaround time made a great impression too. Some customers got their clothes back in less than 24 hours, which is ideal for emergencies or last-minute needs. It’s a real relief for anyone juggling event prep on a tight schedule. 

Beyond pricing and efficiency, their craftsmanship also impressed us. We heard great things about their work on suits, bridesmaid dresses,  jackets, and even curtains. Their hemming, in particular, received a lot of praise.

Men in good suits never fail to exude confidence, so we were pretty excited to come across a tailor who truly knows how to make that happen. European Master Tailor quickly stood out to us for the constant praise we heard about their suit work. 

Silvian Nita, with over 45 years of tailoring experience, is the skilled hand behind it all. Everyone we spoke to mentioned how polished his work is. Suits, wedding pieces, and jackets—you name it. He’s earned a loyal following for making clothes look brand new. 

We also thought their off-the-rack suits were a nice touch. It gives clients more flexibility, especially when they’re looking for a faster option without compromising style. 

What really elevated the experience for many is how polite and helpful the team is. It gave us the impression that they truly value each client. We can definitely see why so many people say they’ll be returning for future alterations and custom work. 

Still, a few people did mention poor results, such as incorrect hemming on a dress or an ill-fitting tuxedo. It’s a reminder that even experienced shops need to keep quality control tight. We hope issues like these will be prevented moving forward.

From what we’ve heard, clients have brought in all kinds of jeans and clothes, then walked out impressed with how well everything fit afterward. The consistency has built a loyal following, continuing to bring clothes here for alterations. 

Their leather jacket work really stood out to us as well. A few clients told us they had theirs completely rebuilt (down to a smaller size) and were amazed by the clean, natural results. 

They also handle formalwear, including suits and wedding dresses. One person mentioned needing a last-minute bridesmaid dress alteration, and Tailor Chic had it shortened in just a few hours.
