5 Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Portland

How We Picked the Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Portland

Accessibility

We picked restaurants that are easy to access for inquiries and orders. We checked their operating hours and also if they have an option to order online.

Quality

Of course, we made sure that the food tastes exquisite and is 100% vegetarian. We also checked out customer feedback to see the consistency of their service and the quality of the food.

Professionalism

Aside from the taste of the food, we thought it was also important that the staff are easy to talk to and approachable. We also looked into how efficient they are and how they respond when issues arise.

Customer Satisfaction

Lastly, we assessed feedback from previous customers to gauge how satisfied they are with the services and products of the restaurants.

Pros

  • Wide range of drinks and dishes
  • Easy pick-up and delivery process
  • Intuitive website
  • Pleasant atmosphere
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Limited info on the website
  • Reports of long waiting time

Since 2005, Van Hanh Restaurant has been preparing vegetarian Vietnamese and Thai dishes and is famous for its affordability and excellent customer service. After trying them out ourselves, we weren’t disappointed.

Their menu has a wide range of dishes and drinks. They’re well known for their gluten-free options like spring rolls (Bò Bía), veg soup (Canh Rau Củ), and different party trays.

They also have a variety of drinks available like their vegan Thai milk tea, smoothies, and Vietnamese coffee.

We also like how convenient it is to have your food delivered or arrange for pickup. The whole process is fast and easy, you can order on their website or give them a call.

Their website is very intuitive, you can add items to your cart and pay online with just a few clicks on your phone or computer. You can even earn points on their rewards system and get freebies the more you order.

Plus, it takes them around 15 minutes to have your order ready, making them ideal when you need a quick meal.

Their food is fresh and delicious, based on our experience. We’re not the only ones who think so.

Their established clientele also praise the taste of their food and their consistently good service. They have a great atmosphere and the people are nice and easy to talk to, making for a pleasant dining experience all in all.

They’re also very upfront with pricing, their meals are affordable. So they’re also a good option when you’re on a budget.

We do wish that they had more information on their website, to make it easier to look through their services. Still, we think they’re a great vegetarian restaurant and worth a spot on our list.

Pros

  • Wide range of options
  • Most food is locally-sourced
  • Lots of seating available
  • Friendly and welcoming staff

Cons

  • A bit expensive
  • Reports of long waiting times
  • Inconsistent hours

We like that Blooming Lotus serves food that is 100% plant-based and organic. Whenever possible, the ingredients are also locally-sourced, making them a very sustainable option.

Blooming Lotus has a full-service restaurant and a cafe and juice bar that you can find in Portland. They have a wide range of options for brunch and dinner.

So whether you’re in the mood for a hearty vegan meal or juice, smoothies, medicinal teas, and even cocktails, they’re a good option.

In their own words, Blooming Lotus has been serving “life-affirming” food for 20 years. We can attest that their food is healthy, vegetarian, and tasty, making for a filling and delicious experience.

Some of their more well-known treats include nachos, bibimbap (a Korean rice bowl), and cinnamon rolls.

You can order online when needed. However, in our experience, it’s better if you dine in or pick up the food directly. There is a lot of seating available, so you never have to worry about long lines to be served.

The staff is also very friendly and welcoming. The ambiance is light and it’s very comforting, from what we’ve seen so people usually have a great dining experience.

Due to the high volume of orders and how they usually make food as you order, there are numerous reports where the food took quite some time to be served. So that’s something to consider with this restaurant.

Their prices are also on the more expensive side. So if you’re looking for more budget-friendly options, it might be best to check out the other places on our list.

Pros

  • Plenty of gluten-free, nut-free, and sugar-free dishes
  • Large selection of pisco
  • Easy to reserve a slot
  • Warm and inviting ambiance
  • Interesting decor

Cons

  • Menu not as extensive
  • Can’t accommodate groups larger than 6 people
  • Open for a short window only

Epif is inspired by the Andes region of South America. So if you’re a fan of food from this culture, you’ll love it here.

What we like about Epif is how they take the traditionally meat-centric South American cuisine and make them vegan. They also have plenty of gluten-free, nut-free, and sugar-free dishes that taste good, from what we’ve experienced.

They serve healthy dishes that use organic and locally-sourced ingredients. A lot of their food makes use of fresh herbs, giving you fresh flavor.

They also have a large selection of pisco (a type of brandy from Peru) and offer a full bar with local beers on tap, mocktails, and wine.

We did notice that they don’t really have a big menu and their portions aren’t that big. So that’s something to consider with this restaurant.

It’s easy to reserve a slot at this restaurant. They’re very responsive when you call.

However, they can’t accommodate groups larger than 6 people at the moment. So if you’re a big group, it might be best to check the other restaurants here.

You also have the option of ordering online, although we find their website a bit outdated.

For us, it’s best to eat there at the restaurant because of the warm and inviting ambiance. It’s very colorful and lively there, making you feel right at home.

The place has a lot of character, with the bar top being constructed from skateboard remnants, and repurposed church pews as banquette seating. They even have a fantastic mural and a large Catalpa tree limb that provides a great shade for outdoor seating.

Pros

  • Hearty portions
  • Great-tasting desserts
  • Friendly staff

Cons

  • Long lines
  • Unreliable online ordering system
  • Expensive

What brings people back here at Mama Dut is the tasty Vietnamese vegan food and the friendly staff. After trying their banh mi and buns, we saw why they’ve made a name as a restaurant in their community.

For one, their food is flavorful, very filling, and comes in hearty portions. They’re a great place to go if you want something heavy and satisfying.

Granted, their food is on the more expensive side. However, we think you get your money’s worth because of the large servings.

They also have really great-tasting desserts with just the right amount of sweetness. Based on our poll of their customers, their whoopie pies seem to be a crowd favorite.

We did notice, however, that the lines can be long because this place is well known in the area. You may have to wait 20 minutes for your turn, and sometimes they may run out of stock, so it’s best to come early.

Their online ordering system is also unreliable and at times unavailable, so it’s best to go to their location directly to order.

When you get there, the staff are very friendly and easy to talk to. The warm ambiance of the place gives a very pleasant dining experience.

Pros

  • Wide range of flavors
  • Affordability
  • Fast service
  • Inviting ambiance

Cons

  • Limited info on website
  • Inconsistent hours

With an extensive Asian-accented menu, Loving Hut Vegan Cuisine is well known for the quality of their food, range of flavors, and affordability. They have various appetizers, soups, entrees, and even combos that are worth the price.

If you’re looking for vegetarian Chinese options, this restaurant is a must-try for you.

We like that they have hearty portions of the meal. So you won’t leave there unsatisfied.

They are also very efficient, it will take them just around 20 minutes to have your food ready for pick up. They’re highly accessible, with an intuitive online ordering system in case you want your food delivered.

Their vegan cheesecakes are worth a mention. Based on our poll of their customers, this and the entrees are the usual crowd pleasers.

The vibe of the restaurant is very inviting and homey. You’ll feel at ease because of the ambiance and the friendly staff who always makes sure you have everything you need while dining.

The prices are also very reasonable. So if you’re on a tight budget and don’t want to compromise on quality, they’re a fantastic option to try.

We do wish that their website offered more information, however, so it would be easier to look through their offerings. Overall, we think they’re a great restaurant still and definitely worth writing home about.
