Pros
- Accepts credit cards
- Focused childcare programs
Cons
- High cost
- Limited programs offered
Pipster Prep is especially loved by the Portland locals for their student-centered approach in providing quality education.
Presently, they only offer three programs, namely, Preschool Classes, Mini Pipster Classes, and Friday Night Pajama Parties. While the options are limited, we think each of them offers a special experience to their students.
We love how flexible the schedules are for their preschool classes. Parents can opt to enroll their kids in two-day up to five-day-a-week schedules.
This, for us, is a smart choice, as it will help kids take on their classes slowly and gradually.
Under these classes, children will learn about phonics, reading, writing, and language development.
We also love that they hold Friday Night Pajama Parties where children ages three to eight years old can get together and simply make friends. Dinner will be served too!
Activities like this are great for developing social skills in kids considering that they’re in their formative years.
We appreciate that they offer a virtual school tour too. This will help parents better gauge the environment of the school before deciding to enroll their kids.
Their monthly tuition can be pricey. Costs start at $720 per month and can go up to $1,445 per month, depending on the schedule you pick.
They also only accept potty-trained children for some of their classes.

Pros
- Offers quality preschool programs
- Years of expertise
Cons
- Doesn’t accept credit cards
- Staff isn’t responsive
Cadence Gateway is part of the Cadence Education family of schools established all across the US. They’ve been in the business for 28 years and have since provided little kids with quality education.
Cadence Gateway offers three programs, including their preschool program.
Over the years, they’ve developed what they call their Ascend Curriculum. This curriculum promotes a balance of structure and flexibility in learning.
We think it’s a great way to accommodate different kids with different learning styles.
We also love that they hold activities that allow kids to explore their curiosity and discover their interests. Kids can learn and enjoy puppet play, storytelling, and gardening.
We also appreciate their teacher-facilitated small group lessons, as this develops values such as friendliness and cooperation.
Teachers in Cadence Gateway are also great with communication. We love that they send pictures of the kids to their parents once in a while just to update them on their kid’s activities in real-time.
The classrooms are, however, small, so keep that in mind if you want your kids to enjoy a bigger space.
They also, presently, don’t offer online classes, which can be a setback for parents who are meticulous about COVID-19 health protocols and are hesitant to send their kids to a physical classroom setup.

Pros
- Trained and experienced teachers
- Has many locations
Cons
- Doesn’t offer refund
- Doesn’t accept credit cards
The Goddard School of Southland Portland offers a warm and nurturing place fitting to be your kid’s second home.
We love that they put a premium on creating a safe and healthy learning environment for their students.
Their preschool program introduces children to foundational knowledge including counting and expanding their vocabularies, and we love that they use fun learning methods in teaching these lessons.
In fact, they also hold plays where students can learn to be creative and imaginative.
These group activities are also helpful in developing the children’s social skills.
We especially love that parents get daily reports through an app, where they can find all the activities their kids participate in each day.
It can be comforting for parents to know about their children’s day, and this also makes it easier for them to monitor their children’s progress
The school is, however, heavily understaffed, so there’s a tendency for some kids to sometimes be left unattended. If you’re looking for a more personalized care, you might want to consider other options.
There’s also an issue about their client service. Particularly, some parents found their employees to be rude and unprofessional.

Pros
- Professionally trained teachers
- Compassionate staff
- Online application for admission
Cons
- No reservation
- Imposes a nonrefundable fee upon application
Sunstone Montessori offers a children’s home program where children ages three to six years old can enroll. They adopt a mixed-age classroom, and we love that this allows the kids to meet and make friends with children of different ages.
We also appreciate that their teachers are Association Montessori Internationale-certified.
They put a premium on building a connection between the teacher and the child, and we think this is important in making sure that children have a reliable companion inside the classroom.
We love that they also hold group activities and plays through which children can learn cultural, scientific, and historical lessons.
We also like their easy two-step admission process. They also offer a school tour before parents submit their online application.
This is great especially for parents who are particular about their children’s learning environment. We love that it provides them an opportunity to assess whether the school premises will work for their kids.
However, we don’t appreciate that they impose a nonrefundable fee of $125 paid upon application.
Unfortunately, one parent also reported that his son was being bullied inside their classroom. This can be an alarming issue, as this concerns the safety of the children, a sensitive matter that affects their mental and physical well-being.

Pros
- Extensive programs
- Update parents from time to time
Cons
- Children are sometimes left unattended
Kindercare’s preschool program offers all opportunities for your kids to simply express themselves.
We love that they’ve set a daily rhythm for the children, which includes group time, story time, outdoor play, meals and snacks, and even naps!
We think this gives kids the guidance they need and still a lot of room to explore and express themselves.
Their curriculum also sounds exciting. Children will learn and practice English, math, science, and even Spanish!
We love that they also engage the kids in science experiments, books, and art. We think it’s a great way to assist children in exploring and discovering their many interests.
We also appreciate that the teachers keep an open communication with the parents. In fact, they make sure to send them pictures and updates about their children’s activities.
The enrolment process with them is also pretty simple. Parents can have their children enrolled in just three steps.
All you have to do is find the KinderCare center closest to your location, contact the center director, and call them with your questions.
A few parents note that their teachers’ attention can be divided. Children can be left unattended sometimes.

Pros

- Stimulating, nurturing preschool environment
- Supports individual growth
Cons
- Limited space available
Rose Creative Preschool provides a stimulating, nurturing preschool environment for each of their students.
We like that they ensure that children get to explore, question, and play. Their school takes into account the different stages of child development and treat cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development as all equally important.
Their school welcomes children between the ages of three and five, and are placed in mixed-age classrooms.
We love how their curriculum focuses on supporting the individual growth of each child by engaging and extending their play and providing a variety of stimulating materials.
They also balance free exploration time and more structured small group and large-group activities. We like this exposure of children to various learning experiences so they can easily adapt to any situation.
Their curriculum strays from traditional classroom setups which we think would be favorable for the growth and development of children.
They do have limited space here so any interested parent should get in touch with their director as soon as possible.

They have regular community gatherings and they embrace the whole child with an organic environment.
They currently offer a 4-day full day program and this costs $1400 a month.
We think it’s great that they provide children with quality meals that are 100% organic. They cater to any food allergies and sensitivities as well.
Overall, we think this is an excellent option for children.
