Pros

  • Experienced and highly trained health care professionals
  • Caring and friendly therapists
  • Accommodating service desk
  • Accepts medical and auto insurance

Cons

  • A bit on the expensive side
  • Appointment slots might fill up fast

While you might have qualms with multi-service acupuncture clinics, we think you won’t feel the same with Inner Gate Health & Wellness.

The center offers acupuncture, sports medicine, and other traditional and non-invasive treatments. Despite the multi-practice setup, we like that the clinic has consistently delivered high-quality service based on what we heard from satisfied clients.

We can attribute this quality to Inner Gate’s solid team of specialists. Hailing from universities and with years of training, each professional has varying capacities that match virtually any patient’s needs (provided that it’s within the bounds of their practice).

We also love that the center can address a wide range of conditions thanks to its multiple modalities.

We have expected them to handle pain relief, sports injuries, and auto accident injuries, but it was a pleasant surprise to know that their treatments can also help in immunity, fertility, and emotional health.

Of course, premium health care such as this will be pricey, to our mild disappointment. Thankfully, the clinic accepts medical and vehicle accident car insurance, which will help you cut down on costs.

We recommend calling the center first to confirm what insurance companies they acknowledge. Doing so will spare you “surprise” fees. Plus, you’ll learn more about how you can save some bucks.

Pros

  • Specializes in pain relief
  • Offers holistic treatment plans
  • Offers lower prices for uninsured patients
  • Over 15 years of experience on Chinese medicine

Cons

  • Can be too busy at times
  • Does not accept Kaiser and Aetna Health insurance

If you’re one to prefer specialized treatments, Acupuncture Northwest is one of the clinics you must visit.

The Northwest team primarily focuses on trigger point acupuncture, which is known to help relieve pain and musculoskeletal conditions.

We like this specialization, as it’s ideal if you want to give yourself a break from an aching back, hip, neck, and shoulder, and strained muscles.

The caveat is that you need around six to eight treatments weekly to experience lasting improvements. Unfortunately, that means high medical costs.

Thankfully, Northwest accepts payment from most major insurance companies. However, know that the clinic excludes Kaiser and Aetna Health from its network.

Note also that if you fail to cancel your appointment with Northwest within 48 hours, you will have to pay an expensive $100 fee.

It can be a hassle, as the clinic will only acknowledge cancellations done over the phone, so we recommend making sure you can honor your set appointment date.

3. WellBridge Clinic

Pros

  • Accepts all auto insurance payments
  • Offers acupuncture that can help improve your skin
  • Highly trained practitioners
  • Accommodating service desk

Cons

  • Slots can fill up quickly
  • Not open on weekends

People who want to stop recurring pain from getting worse can count on WellBridge Clinic’s specialists.

Trained and focused on acupuncture, the clinic’s healthcare professionals, John Rybak and Dr. Kaula Harrop, can treat various conditions with a holistic approach. They can help relieve carpal tunnel symptoms, knee pain, back pain, and headache.

We love that the specialists are passionate about Chinese medicine because it drives them to improve their practice continuously. Moreover, the clinic’s team can provide related services for comprehensive healthcare.

Aside from acupuncture, you can also trust them for nutritional and dietary guidance, herbal medicine, and therapeutic exercises.

We also love that the clinic offers cosmetic acupuncture. It’s an ideal alternative option if you want to improve your skin health.

However, know that WellBridge Clinic is especially busy in the mornings and late afternoons. The online booking form can help you secure an appointment, but expect to find open slots at later dates.

We also find it a slight hassle that you need to create an account on the company website before you can book them.

Pros

  • Personalized treatment plan
  • Licensed, trustworthy practitioners
  • Various alternative methods going beyond acupuncture
  • Accommodating staff

Cons

  • Possible communication hiccups
  • Might be too busy on weekdays

Asula Wellness Center offers acupuncture and more, making it another ideal option if you’re seeking holistic and integrated healthcare.

The clinic’s system combines the Asula team’s disciplines to create a treatment plan that suits your unique needs. We love this system, as it details what the clinic will do to revitalize your body on a long-term basis.

Moreover, you can trust the Asula team’s expertise. All of them are licensed, from massage therapists to acupuncturists to chiropractors.

However, the existence of multiple specialists can be a downside if you’re a patient who takes time to acclimate to a professional’s treatment style. If not addressed, it might result in client dissatisfaction.

We recommend letting the clinic know if ever you prefer someone else to give you treatment. If their schedule allows it, you will likely be paired with a specialist who better suits your needs.

Know also that the clinic is often busy during the weekdays. If you can, we suggest booking an appointment on a Saturday.

Pros

  • Focused on acupuncture and massage
  • Affordable rates
  • Accepts a number of insurance payments
  • Calming environment

Cons

  • No additional services like chiropractic
  • Closed on weekends

You can’t ask for a better clinic than Shinichi Moriyama Acupuncture for straightforward services and long-term treatments.

The clinic’s owner/specialist uses what he calls “the holy trinity,” which provides pain relief. After releasing tension from various points of the client’s body, Moriyama will end the session on a high note with massage and stretching.

We love that you can request to vary the service ratio. For instance, you can opt to receive more massage and stretching than acupuncture or settle for a 100% massage.

Moriyama has a systematic and clear-cut process, which makes it easier for clients to follow what’s happening. You can even check a short written run-through of each service on his site, which we see as a big help for first-time patients.

Costs for his services are also posted online. Based on what we heard from several of his clients, his clinic has one of the best prices in town for acupuncture.

The only downside we can see if you pick Moriyama is that the services will be limited compared to other wellness centers. Nonetheless, we believe many clients will like the focused and no-nonsense approach.

We like that their treatments are both versatile and personalized to better accommodate their needs and a specific case wherein they are also able to craft a treatment plan that fits the client’s lifestyle and comfort.

Furthermore, we like that interested clients can readily select their preferred slot wherein they can book it at their own convenience to ensure that their appointment date is at the best time possible.

Note though that there might be some limitations when it comes to the operating hours of each service that they offer which they can readily use the website for reference.

Cons

Chiron Acupuncture offers Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Portland, and they aim to help patients health their mind and body.

We like that they take a patient-first approach to healing and are grounded in compassion and understanding for each individual. We all hear about instances where patients are invalidated and gaslit when it comes to their ailments but you wouldn’t have to worry about that here.

We think it’s great that they start every session getting to know the patient’s experiences and goals to come up with a personalized plan.

Their clinic can help relieve a wide range of conditions like back pain, chronic headaches, morning sickness, sciatica, breech/malposition babies, knee pain, tennis elbow, post-operative pain, and more.

The treatments they offer to treat the aforementioned conditions are acupuncture, herbal formulas, cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, or bodywork/massage.

We highly recommend!

At her clinic, she offers acupuncture, herbal medicine, and shiatsu services.

What we like about her approach is how she combines different services with home recommendations to treat injury, chronic pain, or post surgical recovery.

She can also work with patients’ primary care provider, orthopedist, or physical therapist for better results, and we think this is a great approach as well for a more holistic treatment.

We like that she tailors treatment plans based on the unique needs of the patient.

If you’d like treatments that make use of an integrative medicine model, we highly recommend Earth and Sky!
