Looking through cute and unique finds is always a lovely way to spend your time, and Cargo makes that easy. The store gives us a vibrant spot full of things to enjoy, so it definitely has to be on this list.

Like many folks we talked to, we love the wide range of treasures here. Their clothing blends vintage charm with pieces like pajama sets, tees, trousers, and dresses.

What’s even better is their clothes are sourced from all over the world. They have pieces sourced from Vietnam, the Philippines, and beyond. There are also creations by local vendors who bring their own flair to the mix.

We appreciate their focus on ethical, sustainable fashion. For instance, their Taka Tank Dress is handwoven in India and made in small batches, reflecting a commitment to slow fashion.

Still, not every visit hits the same note. Some shoppers didn’t like how they were treated. One even said they were asked to leave just for pacing while deciding on a purchase, having been told they were causing a disturbance.

Situations like that can really throw off the mood, especially in a space rooted in cultural appreciation. We hope the staff continues to grow in creating a space that’s not only beautiful but also patient and genuinely welcoming.

Pros

  • Offers a diverse selection of international and local finds
  • Features a wide variety of merchandise
  • Includes vintage-inspired clothing pieces
  • Focus on ethical and sustainable fashion
  • Hosts in-store workshops and events
  • Online shopping available

Cons

  • Some reports of unwelcoming customer service
  • Higher prices compared to other shops

They’ve got different clothing designers and artists!

“To say that you will find one of a kind pieces is an understatement. The antiques from southeast Asia have been transported to Portland. They also have rotating pop up shops from different clothing designers and artists.”

Garrett S., Google Review

Spend hours looking at their amazing clothing.

“You can find a gift for ANYONE here.  And spend hours looking at amazing housewares, clothing and books. Super fun collection of shops.”

We’ve heard it a gazillion times, men don’t have much fashion sense. Believe that, or better yet, challenge it. Because when it comes to sleek tech-wear and street style, MACHUS proves we guys do have our fashion moment.

The store itself feels very neat with selections that change often. Many folks we talked to said they love stopping by just to see what’s new.

We were genuinely surprised by how much variety there is beyond clothing. They’ve got candles and books too, so even your less fashion-obsessed friend can find something cool while you’re eyeing a new hoodie or pair of jeans.

People especially appreciated the mix of brands here, from iconic names like Rick Owens (aka “The Lord of Darkness”) to Italy’s cult favorite, C.P. Company. Their in-house label, composed of mostly darker tones and versatile staples, also gets a lot of love.

Some people pointed out the pricing felt fair, especially with a solid sale rack and perks like tax-free shopping (thank you) and free domestic shipping on orders over $150.

However, not everyone felt totally at home. One shopper mentioned the vibe leaned a bit too much into a cool 20-something energy, making them feel slightly out of place. The whole thing is undeniably cool, but we think every guy should feel seen and styled too.

Pros

  • Frequent new arrivals
  • Offers lifestyle items
  • Carries well-known brands
  • Popular in-house label with versatile staples
  • Fair pricing
  • Tax-free shopping
  • Free domestic shipping (on orders over $150)
  • Features online shopping

Cons

  • Targeted toward young adults

Awesome shopping experience in store and online!

“These guys are the best.  Extremely curated brands with hand picked items, stuff you won’t find anywhere else.  Awesome shopping experience in store and online, with the customer service exceeding all expectations.  Will be returning in a few weeks when I’m back on Portland.  This place has become a must-stop for me when traveling.”

My go to spot for the greatest pieces in my closet.

Vintage never goes out of style, and that’s why we really love Workshop Vintage. It brings together a curated selection of vintage fashion, artisan-made goods, and unique treasures that feel both nostalgic and fresh.

Their fashion collection highlights pieces from the 1950s through the 1970s, which we really love. You can expect classic staples like bell-bottom jeans, vintage blouses, and standout outerwear.

Other shoppers we talked to also raved about the shop’s jewelry collection. They have pieces that pair perfectly with their vintage clothes.

The boutique is also known for its crystals, incense, and other esoteric items, which honestly made the whole place feel like a cozy little portal. We loved that extra touch of magic in the shopping experience.

Some might find it inconvenient that Workshop Vintage doesn’t have an online store, though. But if you ask us, we don’t really mind going to the store because of how friendly and welcoming the staff are.

    Pros

    • Features vintage fashion from the 1950s-1970s
    • Offers quality vintage jewelry
    • Offers a wide range of gifts and esoteric items
    • Top-notch customer service

    Cons

    • No online store
    • Limited selection

Really cute shop and the owner is so sweet!

“Really cute shop and the owner is so sweet! We walked by and went in and everything is so cute in there. We got some cute posters and will definitely be back!”

      Emma Giomi, Google Review

Got myself an apron and other great finds.

“The owners are very kind, down to earth people. When we went they were actually closed, but let us in anyways for a little bit. This place has a great selection of vintage clothes and local finds. I especially loved the vintage leather jackets. None fit quite right on me though. Walked out with an apron, some postcards, and a couple of patches! 🙂 Definitely recommend.”

We’re living in a more progressive world, pink can be for boys too, and the list goes on. That’s why we appreciate spaces like Wildfang, where people can feel completely okay with who they are, gender-wise.

The clothing store really feels like it’s celebrating inclusivity through its bold mix of classic tailoring and modern design. They offer gender-fluid pieces like button-ups, suits, and coveralls.

What really caught our eye when we visited the store was the explosion of color—floral coveralls, jacquard blazers, and more. Even the other shoppers we talked to noted how the clothing feels genuinely gender-fluid.

We also really appreciate how their inclusivity extends beyond clothing. They donate to support organizations like gender equity and LGBTQ+ rights.

Even so, a few experiences didn’t quite match the store’s empowering message. Some shoppers felt the in-store service was lacking, with one choosing to stick to online orders instead.

There were also concerns about product quality, like a tee arriving with a stain or pants tearing after just a couple of wears.

      Pros

      • Gender-fluid fashion
      • Strong commitment to social impact
      • Climate Neutral Certified
      • Many shoppers feel empowered
      • Online shop available

      Cons

      • A few reports of lacking in-store assistance
      • Occasional concerns about product quality

Liked my jumpsuit so much, literally been getting compliments!

“Walked in right when they opened this morning and got great service. Liked my jumpsuit so much that I wore it out of the store and have literally been getting compliments from strangers on the street all day today. Great shop and so happy I had the chance to try on the clothes in person rather than order online!”

        Valinda Lee, Google Review

The shop really made me feel comfortable.

“Although I didn’t buy the outfit I tried on, I really loved this place (and the outfit)! The vibe, aesthetic, and quote below made me feel comfortable in the store. Their goal of inclusivity and environmental sustainability is so admirable. I would go back 10/10!”

Some of you have probably dreamed of a perfect wedding gown, or maybe just a little vintage-obsessed. Either way, we’re all for the vintage glamour of Xtabay Vintage Clothing Boutique.

Our jaws literally dropped at their curated selection of sophisticated gowns from the 1920s through the 1970s. There were wedding dresses, cocktail party dresses, and even cotton day dresses.

Everyone we spoke to couldn’t describe the clothes without using the word “beautiful”—and honestly, we couldn’t think of a better word ourselves. Shoppers also praised the elegance of the coats that often accompany the dresses.

To complete the look, Xtabay offers a selection of vintage jewelry, hats, and handbags.

The pricing is surprisingly reasonable too, especially given the quality they bring to the table.

The online shopping experience Xtabay offers is also generally good. Many customers appreciated that the clothes arrived clean and well-packed.

Still, not everyone had the same magical experience. One international shopper complained about getting a coat with an asymmetrical button (which was returned and refunded) and a dress with measurements they claimed were inaccurate.

        Pros

        • Curated pieces from the 1920s-1970s
        • Wide range of gowns and dresses
        • Elegant interior
        • Offers luxurious vintage accessories
        • Reasonable pricing

        Cons

        • Some inconsistency in product quality
        • Occasional issues with international orders

You made my birthday dress dreams come true!

“Absolutely in love with this dress. Service in store was amazing and I’m so glad we decided to stop by. I have a hard time finding true vintage in my size and was absolutely floored when I saw this dress and it was in my size. I had to add the red sash as the dress didn’t come with the original belt but to me this dress is perfect as is. Thank you Xtabay! You made my birthday dress dreams come true!”

          Amber Jensen, Google Review

Thanks Xtabay for my 1952 wedding gown  and fast shipping!

“The best of the best. Anything Liz hand picks is perfection. I’ve been lucky enough to bag three of her pieces. One of them my wedding dress from 1952 that the original bride brought into the shop so that another could enjoy. How wonderful. Thank you for the fast shipping and beautiful packages that brighten up my rainy London days. I love being an Xtabay Babe!”
