Senestraro Family Orthodontics is an automatic A-lister for us for its wide range of services and client-friendly environment.
You can count on the clinic to work around straightening your smile, whether it be through braces or Invisalign. The team can also handle orthodontic emergencies caused by accidents or severe pain from dental appliances.
We love that the wide-ranging services are available to both kids and adults, as it makes visiting a single clinic extra convenient if you have family members needing orthodontic treatment.
We also like that the consultations are free of charge. It’s more impressive because the clinic uses the latest technology and can usually create a treatment plan right away.
The owner, Dr. Seth Senestraro, will even provide a plan that’s customized for you. Better yet, most braces and Invisalign procedures can start right after the consultation, helping save your time.
The clinic is also willing to price match other treatment plans, provided that the procedure is the same.
However, know that the price matching only applies to plans from orthodontists in the Portland metro area. If you don’t have treatment plans from the said location, expect that your total expenses will be higher.
Thankfully, Senestraro can coordinate with your insurance company to reduce your out-of-pocket expenses. Although we would have appreciated it more if the clinic listed the insurance they accept on their website.

Pros
- Highly skilled orthodontist
- Family-friendly
- Pleasant atmosphere
- Interest-free payment plans available
Cons
- Limited clinic hours
- No list of accepted insurance on website
Some patients have orthodontic problems that require advanced skills and dental knowledge. For such cases, a board-certified orthodontist such as one from Hillsdale Orthodontics is the ideal option.
The clinic is led by Dr. Alix Leemin, who has earned her Certificate in Orthodontics at the Oregon Health and Science University. Suffice to say, she has a deeper understanding of the practice.
Moreover, she’s accompanied by Dr. Kimberly Handick, who studied dentistry at Indiana University. Together with a capable staff, the two professionals will ensure that you’ll get the best orthodontic care.
We like that despite their distinctions and achievements, the two doctors remain personable and are loved by their new and old patients.
Clients we’ve talked to also say that this friendliness extends to the staff, making the clinic a pleasant place to visit despite the slightly anxiety-inducing procedures.
It’s only quite a downer that the clinic is open for four days weekly. Busy people who want to experience the service will have to squeeze the visit into their mid-week schedule, which can be challenging.

Pros
- Over 30 years in the practice
- Fun and welcoming staff
- Uses original, highly developed braces
- Allows virtual consultation
Cons
- Can be too busy at times
- Closed on weekends
Clients who require long experience and distinction in the industry will see Magic Smiles as a must-visit clinic.
The orthodontic center was established in 1990 by Dr. Phil Doleac, who has a long, storied orthodontic practice dating back to the 1980s when he first served as a military orthodontist.
We believe Dr. Doleac’s long experience will make clients feel safe, but what truly sets him apart and his clinic is the fun atmosphere they have created. Thanks to that, even children will enjoy their trips to the dentist.
We’re impressed with the clinic’s technology, too. Aside from the usual appliances such as Invisalign and retainers, it offers the signature Damon Smile braces, developed to minimize discomfort and expedite treatment.
The possible downside to choosing Magic Smiles for your orthodontic treatment is that it can be difficult to book an appointment. After all, they cater to many patients.
Also, there might be times when you’ll have to wait for a response to your consultation request due to the high volume of clients.

Pros
- Offers personalized treatment plan to all ages
- Helpful service desk
- Wide range of dental services
- Will help you check with your insurance to confirm coverage
Cons
- Not solely focused on orthodontics
- Does not do braces
If you or your family members have multiple dental concerns, visiting a one-stop clinic like Belmont Family Dentistry might be a good idea.
The clinic has been led by Dr. Aaron Tinkle since 2009 and has since then maintained a good reputation in Southeast Portland.
Belmont’s services are perfect for all-around needs. You can get your teeth checked, cleaned, fixed, or enhanced aesthetically on top of realigning procedures.
We love that Belmont’s dentists can provide comprehensive dental care for all ages. It’s inclusive and goes to show that the professionals in the clinic are highly skilled.
So far, we haven’t heard a client complaining about the clinic not providing satisfactory treatment because the patient is too young or old. And we think that’s a good indicator of the dentists’ expertise.
However, it’s unfortunate that Belmont’s orthodontic treatment is limited to Invisalign and removable space maintainers for kids.
If you prefer braces, you’ll need to look elsewhere, though it might feel like a waste since the clinic has almost every service you need to keep your teeth healthy.

Pros
- Uses modern, high-tech braces
- Personable staff
- Consultation is completely free
- Offers flexible payment plans and financing
Cons
- Far from the metro area
- Closed on weekends
Clients who live in or are close to Southwest Portland and nearby suburbs can count on the Dischinger Team Orthodontics’ efficiency and expertise.
The clinic focuses on orthodontics for children and adults and uses the latest technology to scan and assess your teeth. The team then creates a plan unique to you for effective treatment.
The best thing about the said initial steps is you don’t have to pay anything. Whether you’re a first-time client or seeking a second opinion, the clinic will not charge you during this phase.
We think being transparent and not charging fees for the initial check-up (including X-rays) is impressive. Moreover, it can alleviate the nervousness clients often associate with visiting clinics for a dental consultation.
We believe that clinics with such a welcoming system will encourage more people to seek professional advice, which can then help the community maintain its dental health and reduce other illnesses associated with unhealthy teeth in the long run.
Unfortunately, the clinic is a bit far from the metro, so driving might take longer and be tedious for some clients. Dischinger has a closer Portland branch, but it’s currently for administrative transactions only.
The clinic is also open only four days weekly, which might be a hassle if you’re busy. Moreover, they don’t have appointments on weekends, so you would need to allot a special time for your visit if you truly want the team to handle your dental issues.
