Annastasia Salon’s “Truth or Hair Quiz” allows customers to input their hair type and lifestyle, pairing them with one of their stylists. This quiz saved me from the awkward “first date” vibe of traditional consultations.

They offer five types of hair extensions from the Bellami brand, ranging from tape-in to hand-tied wefts, in 42 shades. 

The tape-ins merge easily with natural hair, but it’s the K-Tip extensions I keep hearing about. One woman swears they add volume without the tugging. 

I like that they also source Remy human hair. It’s silky, tangle-free, and shiny. It’s the highest quality of hair extensions out there. 

Their team also offers both in-salon and on-site bridal hair and makeup. They also do skin care, waxing, and lashes. They have three different skin care specialists: Lizzy, Merav, and Amanda. 

Lizzy’s eyelash extensions became legendary after one bride’s lashes survived tears and rain, while Merav’s sugar waxing leaves their clients’ skin so smooth. 

The catch? The skin and lash specialists operate independently, so booking a hydrafacial with Amanda or a brow session with Merav means checking their individual policies.

Carbon Salon’s barbershop haircuts give men a taste of pampering. Their haircuts include a scalp-soothing wash and a luxurious shoulder massage. 

One of their clients with thick, curly hair raved about the stylist’s precision layering, which gave his waves bounce without sacrificing length. 

Those with beards like the hot-towel shave. A guy I spoke to appreciated that it’s a close shave without a single nick.

Their full-service facial steamer delivers hydration, and the beard tint easily hides grays. 

Their color services are Pinterest-worthy. A balayage client of theirs had sun-kissed ash highlights that blended naturally with her jet black roots.

Those who want extensions can get them done here too, but the consultation needs to be pre-booked in advance. From what I heard, they are great at using tape-ins and preventing hair damage.  

The nail team delivers too. I got a gel manicure that survived two entire weekends without chipping.

Plus, parking is covered here. Parking is available near the Uptown Shopping Center, with a 1-hour limit.

Jayah Rose Salon & Spa is the place I’ll go back to when I want to try protective styles that don’t compromise on luxury. 

For regular box braiders, I love how they conveniently sell individual hair bundles. This allows customers to control the hair costs, aka the quantity of braids, without sacrificing quality. 

One of their regulars with tightly coiled hair shared how her Senegalese twists lasted 3 months without frizz, thanks to the salon’s premium two-strand twist bundles.

The salon also offers wigs, but only by special order. They have weaves, loose waves, kinky waves, and more. 

Regulars who order their wigs love that they do all the luxury treatments for their wigs, too. From custom cuts to silk presses and shavings, their stylists handle it all.

A woman who ordered a kinky-wave lace front told me her stylist trimmed the lace to mimic her natural hairline. From looking at her hair, I could barely tell it was a wig. 

Their silk presses also earn raves. A regular with color-treated 4C hair swore hers survived Portland’s drizzle because of the stylist’s heat-protectant layering. 

She did a great job with my thin, straight, cowlicky hair

Blondie A Salon’s awesome refer-a-friend discount comes in handy for people who don’t like going to the salon alone. 

A regular client of theirs, I spoke to, has since referred three coworkers after her balayage turned heads at a conference. She said she’s been able to save on her root touch-ups.

Their color weave and foil service is fantastic for those who want dimension without the harsh lines. One brunette had lowlights that blended in perfectly. 

For texture, their spiral perms seem to have a cult following. A regular I spoke with raved about her beachy waves. 

As for me, I appreciated their corrective treatments.  I love that their stylists can turn those messy DIY box-dye disasters into something beautiful. I came here after a blonde disaster, and the colorist neutralized those brassy orange tones with ease. 

The deep conditioning treatments post-color eliminated my usual post-appointment frizz.

The only hitch? Their 10–15-minute early arrival policy is a bit strict for those who have to deal with Portland traffic.

Revolution Hair and Body Salon’s team listens first and actually tries to achieve the looks their clients want. A regular told me she loved that she walked out looking just like her inspiration picture with wispy lashes and a flawless burgundy-black ombre. 

Although they offer full hair services, their brow and lash game is on point. I got lash extensions here, and they lasted a full six weeks without shedding. I loved the tech’s meticulous application and use of featherlight, non-toxic adhesives. 

Another person I spoke to raved about their expert brow shaping. She appreciated how the brow tech analysed her facial features and gave her symmetrical arches, instead of brows that looked over-plucked.

They also have refreshing facials. One of their clients with stubborn hormonal breakouts told me the esthetician thoroughly exfoliated her skin and didn’t skip the moisturiser. 

Even their waxing services leave people looking flawless. I like how they apply the wax in small sections to avoid those annoying “wax burns”. 

The only problem is they’re strictly appointment-only. This means no walk-ins for last-minute touch-ups.
