Pros
- More than a decade of experience in car auction industry
- Competitive prices for sellers
- Auto ready detail and service inspection guaranteed
- Provides transportation of cars to the auction
- Free breakfast for bidders during auction day
Cons
- Bids once a week only
- Minor complaints in profiling car sellers
- No mention of the types of cars being auctioned
Crosspoint Dealer Auction provides a platform for selling or listing vehicles at auction and receiving bids. It may be as simple as you read, but our assessment revealed that the company is very well-liked in this industry, making them very appealing to dealers.
If you have a car you want to enter in their auction, you can expect excellent service from their team of technicians. You don’t have to worry about all your mechanical and arbitration needs (as well as washing and vacuuming to full detail), allowing you to get the best price for your car.
We understand how difficult it can be to bring your vehicles to the auction, and we’re relieved to know they do as well. In fact, they assist their dealers in bringing them into the store via their experienced transportation department.
All of this is to say that Crosspoint bidders can expect a very well-maintained car, which is another reason they’re a strong choice in the business. They even have an inspection team, so there’s little reason to be concerned about their vehicles.
Unfortunately, they only bid once a week (on Wednesdays), but it’s a full day of business, so you can still expect a productive auction with them. Buyers also enjoy the free breakfast buffet provided on each auction day, which we think is quite generous.
On the other hand, we’ve also heard a few complaints about car sellers being profiled in an unprofessional manner. We’re not big fans of these comments, so we’re sending you a head’s up if you decide to work with them.

Pros
- International company of car auction
- Has a wide range of car selections available to auction
- Hosts mobile auction
- Organized auction ceremonies
- Regular auctions always have simulcasts
- Auctions are very welcoming to first-time bidders
Cons
- Hosting of mobile auctions varies on locations
- Car inventory on their website are available for members only
With 106 locations worldwide, Manheim is the world’s leading provider of used vehicles. Their Portland company lives up to the company’s reputation, and based on the reviews, they mostly receive nothing but praise from their customers.
Their buyers, for example, compliment them on their clean and well-organized auction ceremonies. To give you an idea, it begins with an auctioneer, ringman, and all personnel required to host the auction – and of course, the condition report for each car being auctioned.
But what we really like about their services (and what is obviously the most popular with their customers), is their mobile auction. It’s exactly like their regular public auctions, but it’s much more convenient for most of their buyers because it brings the Manheim auction to them.
However, the timing of how long it will take to host a mobile auction depends on where you are in the city, so there’s still no guarantee. The good news is that their regular auctions always have simulcasts, so there’s really nothing to worry about in terms of convenience.
On the plus side, their auctions are very welcoming to first-time bidders, as long as they’re eligible. They only need to register at the sponsoring auction facility on the day of the auction to obtain a bidder’s number (provided they have all of the required registration information).
Lastly, as previously stated, Manheim is an international auction company, which means they have a diverse selection of cars available for bidding. They also have an inventory of the cars they’ll be auctioning on their website, but it’s only available to members.

Pros
- Online auto auction
- Provides a feature-rich online auction market
- Wide range of used, repaired, and salvaged car selections
- Affordable offers
- Provides advantage in bidding for its members
- Has a “Buy It Now” option
- Delivers vehicle door-to-door
Cons
- Difficulty in registering as member
- Additional cost for documentation fees, and transportation
If you really want to save big at car auctions, why not try to buy salvaged cars from Salvagebid? They exceeded our expectations in terms of overall auctioning services, and we’re not joking when we say they are on sale every day.
But if you’re hesitant to purchase salvaged cars, they can still provide you with used and repaired vehicles. In fact, they have a wide range of all types of vehicles for that matter, including thousands of used cars from all prominent brands such as BMW, Audi, Mercedes, etc.
Providing a simple and easy way for people to buy or bid on their favorite cars is what this company aims for, and we appreciate it. Salvagebid is a public online auto auction, so it means you can bid whenever and wherever you want.
However, we recognize the benefit of physically bidding, and it’s a good thing they use modern technology to provide a feature-rich online auction market. It’s packed with all the information you’d want to know, so it’s still acceptable when compared to personal auctions.
Now, most of the company’s services are extremely beneficial to its members, who can save even more money than participating buyers. However, much to our dismay, prospective buyers complain in the reviews about the difficulty in registering as members.
Anyway, once you’ve completed registration, bidding will become smooth and rewarding. You can take advantage of unlimited bidding (depending on your maximum bid), the “Buy It Now” option, and door-to-door car delivery.

Pros
- Auctions great selections of cars from multiple sources
- Also auctions cars from sellers
- Has a weekly list of vehicles available for auctions on their website
- Buyers can bid online the same time as the live auction
- Transparent fees
Cons
- Online bidders are charged for deposit
- Issues with auctioning cars from sellers
- Doesn’t address technical questions about any of the vehicles during auctions
Speed’s Towing Auction bids on automobiles that have been donated by private parties, Oregon charities, and those that have been impounded. If you want to sell your car, they can slide it in for auction.
Talking about that, it still depends on how full their auction is and whether there are any remaining openings. To be honest, we don’t recommend them as a platform for selling your cars, as we haven’t found much information about whether they offer auto-ready detail services.
Fortunately, we find them to be fairly great for buyers. Their website even has an auction tab where you can see their weekly list of vehicles, all with pictures and more detailed information– great for giving you a better idea of what you’re bidding on.
Like any other car auction nowadays, they have online bidding going on concurrently with the live auction. However, online bidders are charged a deposit if they don’t pick up the car after winning the bid, so we recommend attending their live auctions instead.
We’ve heard they host warm auctions with food and drinks for everyone, so we think you’ll enjoy bidding with them. The only thing that raises a red flag for us is that they refuse to answer technical questions about any of the vehicles up for auction.
On the plus side, we appreciate how transparent they are about fees, allowing their clients to avoid hidden costs. Speaking of which, they charged a 17% buyer fee on all of their vehicles, as well as a $20 processing fee per vehicle.

Pros
- 100% online auctions
- Clients can still preview cars personally
- Thousands of clean title used cars for auctions
- Has available storage facilities for cars that have not been picked up
- Free guest membership
Cons
- Mixed reviews on customer service
Copart – Portland North, the Portland office of this global provider of online vehicle auctions, made our list for valuable reasons. Despite the fact that they have received mixed reviews for their general services, we believe they could be ideal for car auctions.
Firstly, because they host 100% online auctions, which means that all transactions take place at your convenience. They do, however, welcome clients to come to their location in person to view any vehicle they are interested in, so we guess that’s an exception.
They’re also very generous to their buyers who can’t pick up the car they won right away through the availability of storage facilities. Storage fees are charged daily if cars are left for more than three days.
Despite the negative feedback on their customer service, some customers still praised them for having a pleasant staff. Mostly because of their friendly welcome and willingness to answer any questions, as well as assist with vehicle pickup.
For full access to their massive inventory, you need to be a Copart member (you can choose between a basic or premium membership). However, if you only want to look at auctions and not bid, it’s a good thing they offer free guest membership.
Looking at our assessment, Copart – Portland North is not as bad as most reviews claim, as evidenced by their long list of existing bidders. Not to mention they hold thousands of clean title used cars, plus salvage title trucks, for you to choose from.
