The 5 Best Photography Studios in Portland
How We Picked
Equipment
By renting a photography studio, you are using them not just for their space, but also for what they have to offer to help make your photos the best that they can be. Because of this, we included studios that have a lot of equipment contributing to photo quality and option diversity.
Customer Service
For your shoot to run smoothly, great customer service also plays a part. That’s why we considered the scheduling process and responsiveness. You have to be sure that they didn’t double-book and that they can promptly answer your requests as soon as they can.
Location
Since you’re renting the studio for a specific amount of time, it must be in a location that’s easy to find.
Price
The price is an obvious factor to consider. We weighed the cost and what you will be getting for it to make sure it will be worth your time and money.
Natural light
A lot of photographers appreciate good natural lighting. While there’s usually lighting equipment in studios, some still look for the natural feel that sunlight gives.

Pros
- Kind staff and owner
- Available selection of props and set pieces
- Has different kinds of studios
- Easy to book
- Pricing available
- Has a short minimum time frame
- Pets are allowed
Cons
- Additional charge for groups of more than 10 people
This option is among the best-equipped of the photography studios we tested. While you still need to prepare a lot of your stuff, judging from what they have available, you just have to bring yourself and your team, your camera, and your outfits.
They also have different kinds of studios on offer. To start with, they have their main studio, which is a 1500-square-foot space that has a dozen background variations.
They also have a boudoir & glam studio for more intimate shoots. There’s also a product photography studio, a newborn studio, and a full studio.
Plus, they have a dressing room and a studio salon.
When we reached out to their previous clients, a lot of them mentioned that they love the available selections for set pieces and props.
They found it quite easy to book because the studio staff was responsive throughout the process. The staff answered all the questions they might have and was also helpful during the shoot.
Additionally, the pricing is already available on the website so there’s no need to reach out and wait for the quote.
Unlike a lot of studios that you come across too, you can book Cobalt Studios for as short as 2 hours. We found that a lot of studios require you to rent them for at least half a day, so we like that clients are offered this option.
Another thing about this studio is that pets are allowed. If you’re a big group, however, particularly more than 10 people, they will charge you an additional cost.

Pros
- Accepts 1-hour bookings
- Great natural light source
- Has a parking space
- Affordable pricing
Cons
- Doesn’t have a lot of amenities
The first thing we noticed when we looked at the photos of Studio Northwest is that they have a great source of natural light. But if you don’t require any natural light for your shoot, they also have a background curtain so that you can maximize the use of studio lighting.
The curtain also gives privacy, especially if the models are changing their outfits. This is especially important because they don’t have a changing room.
On that note, it’s worth pointing out that they don’t have a lot of amenities when compared to other photography studios.
They do have a parking space, bike storage, an elevator, and more… but we think they could’ve added more useful spaces like a well-equipped makeup and changing area.
Still, while the amenities are lacking, we think they have a good selection of set pieces and backdrops.
They have different benches, stools, plants, and more. Conveniently, they have photos of the pieces they have available so you can plan your shoots accordingly.
A lot of previous clients of this photography studio mentioned that the prices were affordable.
Based on the prices we’ve seen in other studios, we completely agree. You also have the option to rent the studio only for an hour.
We think this is especially useful if you’re just taking headshots with no outfit changes or if you’re on a tight budget.

Pros
- Easy parking
- Staff with good communication skills
- Great natural light source
- Affordable
- Spacious
Cons
- Some important information isn’t on the site
A lot of Daylight Creative Space’s previous clients that we managed to reach out to commended the communication skills of the staff. This is because the booking process was smooth, with a responsive person to answer all their inquiries.
In fact, during our survey, there were no reports of double bookings or their reservation being forgotten at this studio.
Another reason clients were pleased with this photography studio is because the location has a great natural light source. It’s one of the things that you will first notice about it.
We found that a lot of people chose Daylight Creative Space just for this. Of course the affordable pricing also influenced their decisions, as you get a lot for a reasonable price.
Moreover, the studio is spacious so there’s plenty of space for you to get creative. This drastically increases the creative possibilities, assuming you have the props and materials for whatever you’re imagining.
They also have a good selection of furnishings and plants to complement your photos. However, we think they could’ve included the photos of these in their website, so that clients can plan on props in advance.
We think you can easily request it via email, but it would be much more convenient if you could view that sort of thing without having to put in an inquiry.

Pros
- Pets allowed
- Spacious
- Big windows
- Responsive
Cons
- Not a lot of props and furnishings
Probably the most impressive thing about this studio is the amount of space it boasts. Surprisingly, it’s a lot bigger than how it looks in the photos.
In fact, you won’t have any problems using this photography studio even if you’re a group of 10 people. It’s a 1600 sq ft studio, which is a lot more generous in space compared to a lot of studios we encountered.
We added their big windows to our list of pros too because as you would have guessed – they’re a wonderful source of natural light. They’re 10×10 windows facing South and North.
Anyway, most of the clients we interviewed also mentioned that the owner is responsive. The owner was also present on the day of the shoot for most clients, so inquiries were answered on the spot.
Other points in their favor are that pets are allowed and elevators are available. Why does the second thing matter?
Well, depending on what you’re bringing to the shoot, some of your equipment might be uncomfortable to carry to the second floor where the studio is located. The elevator can obviously help with that.
The only thing that could be cause for consideration is that there are not a lot of options for props and furnishings.
However, if you only need a decent space with your model, we think you can still do a lot in this photography studio. You’ll just have to deal with bringing most of your own props.

Pros
- Helpful staff
- Clean and organized space
- Easy booking process
- Has an event space and recording studio
- Extremely spacious
Cons
- Closes early compared to its competitors
- The website could be improved
This is another studio with a lot of space. With 2552 sqft to it in total, there are a lot of things you can do here.
It’s easy to transform from one thing to another, which can easily accommodate an artist’s vision. This is one of the reasons why professionals choose this space for product shoots, concept shoots, fitness-related shoots, and more.
A lot of people we interviewed also found the staff to be quite helpful at T.E.A.M. Center. This is because the staff attended to their needs and inquiries swiftly during their sessions.
Someone was also available to assist them during the shoot at all times.
It’s quite easy to book here because the available schedule is already listed, by the way. All you have to do is choose a time and date that works for you.
Anyway, something interesting is that some of their clients booked this studio not just for photoshoots. Some of them hosted events and recorded podcasts here, which gives you an idea of how large and versatile the space is.
The list of studio equipment and building specifications is conveniently available on their website, which can help you decide if this photography studio has what you need.
Speaking of the website, while it is informative, we think it could use improvement. There are some pretty low-quality photos and videos on their site.
We also want to add that they close early compared to other studios in the city, so this might be something you also want to consider.
