Pros
- Online scheduling of inspection
- Offers warranty inspection
Cons
- No financing options
Although Murphy Home Inspection is new in Portland, we still think they offer commendable service defined by professionalism and state-of-the-art equipment.
What we like best about Murphy Home Inspection is the active and open communication they keep with their clients.
To start, we appreciate that they’re upfront to their clients. They point out every detail that their clients should know about their own homes and document their observations in a meticulous report.
We think this makes a reliable reference that clients can always come back to when they’re ready to take on the problem areas in their homes.
We also appreciate that they don’t stop at just observing their clients’ homes but also provide them with recommendations to remedy the problems they’ve determined.
We think that their client service is also noteworthy.
Through the alternative booking options they offer, clients can easily schedule an appointment with them.
There are three ways for you to get in touch with them. You can set a schedule online by simply completing a prepared form, directly call their number, or email them.
This, for us, gives clients accessibility and convenience in their transactions.
Next, we also think they make a great investment.
This is because they offer an 11-month warranty covering their inspection services to keep their clients satisfied even in the long run.
However, we have to note that they impose higher rates in comparison to other companies.
They also don’t presently offer any financing or payment options to their clients. In fact, they also charge an additional $185 per hours for every reinspection. This could be discouraging for clients who might be needing a little help in their financing.

Pros
- 17 years of experience
- Offers extensive list of inspection services
- Offers warranty inspection
Cons
- High service cost
If you’re looking for a company with a wealth of experience, Pacific NW Inspection deserves to be at the top of your list.
Having been in business for 17 years, they can offer high-quality home inspection services developed through years of experience.
We think this experience is shown in the attention to detail that they practice in their service.
We love that their inspectors evaluate the nooks and crannies of their clients’ homes, from its foundation and exterior structure to its insulations and ventilations, even including carbon monoxide concentration.
This meticulous approach is, for us, a proof of their commitment and dedication to their clients.
We also love that they can accommodate all types of homes, whether it’s your family’s ancestral home or your newly constructed dream house.
In fact, through our research, we found that they’ve worked on a large and expensive house originally constructed in 1928 which has been updated and remodeled several times.
We also like that they assist their clients in choosing the right inspection services for them. They do this by providing them with final reports that are complete with pictures and descriptions of their findings.
Finally, to enforce their credibility, Pacific NW Home Inspection is also an Oregon Certified Home Inspector.
This certification is awarded by the Oregon Construction Contractors Board to worthy home inspectors who have passed the National Home Inspector Examination.
All of these, unfortunately, come at a higher cost than average.

Pros
- Adheres to COVID-19 safety guidelines
- Offers alternative payment options
- 20 years of experience
Cons
- High service cost
- Limited service list
Having been in the business for more than 20 years, Top Notch Home Inspection has successfully created a distinct brand.
Although they are a little more expensive in comparison to other companies, we love that they use the latest equipment for their services.
To give you a clearer picture, they use infrared device in their inspection. This device is highly recommended especially for modern homes, as it is able to detect even the smallest of issues through infrared radiation.
This is perfect for clients who are meticulous when it comes to their home upkeep.
With this modern equipment, we believe clients get quality service for their money.
Next, we also appreciate that they submit reports to their clients within 24 hours after inspection. We love that these detailed reports are organized for clients to easily see the issues that require urgent actions.
We also like that clients can avail of special deals with their services. They offer discounts for new houses and structures and for combined home and mold inspections.
For easy transactions, they also offer alternative payment options to their clients. They accept cash, credit, debit, and online payment through PayPal.
Additionally, they offer online consultations, which for us, works well for clients who prefer to inquire in the comforts of their own homes.
We have to note, however, that they may not be ideal if you’re looking to have multiple services done in one appointment. They have a limited service list compared to their competitors.
But if you can find the service you’re looking for on their list, this won’t be a problem for you.

Pros
- Online scheduling of inspection
- Offers walk-through consultations
- Online instant quote
Cons
- High service cost
True Home Inspection offers more concentrated inspection services. While they offer their inspection services exclusively to residential clients, we don’t think this puts them at a disadvantage.
Because they’ve spent their time and resources focused on home inspections, we think they’re also the best in this area.
In fact, they’ve developed a detailed list of services for home inspection. This includes inspection on air conditioning, electrical wiring, plumbing, and fireplaces.
If you’re looking for a professional to inspect your residential homes, True Home Inspection is definitely the choice for you.
We also love that they provide walk-through consultations for their clients.
This is especially beneficial for clients who are planning to buy new homes and are looking for professional opinions from inspectors before making their final purchase.
This walk-through consultation allows the client, the inspector, and the seller to attend open houses and share their observations with each other.
They also offer additional services which other companies don’t offer. They provide options for environmental testing and post repair inspections.
These services are best for clients who are particular in eliminating common hazardous household contaminants like lead or mold.
They also work well for clients who are in need of professional opinion to verify whether the repairs made to their homes are efficiently made.
However, we don’t appreciate that their services cost more. In fact, they also impose a minimum pre-purchase and pre-listing inspection of $450 for only three hours.

Pros
- Family business
- High-tech services
- Years of experience
- Open 24 hours
Cons
- High service cost
Nickelsen Home Inspections, LLC is probably the most tenured home inspection company in our list.
Founded in the 1990s, the company offers an extensive experience in home inspection of both residential and commercial properties.
Having been in business for decades, they’ve earned their memberships in the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) and the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI).
Their solid credibility is also shown in their high-technology services.
We say this because they offer home energy score inspection. This service detects poorly insulated water heaters in properties that can consume high amounts of energy.
They also have thermal imaging inspection. This service measures the temperature inside the properties through infrared cameras, which help in identifying areas that are prone to weather damage.
These services are beneficial for practical clients who want to prioritize cost-efficiency over other features.
Next, we also think their client service is noteworthy.
We like that the company is open 24 hours all throughout the week. They’re also always available for consultation through call, text, and email.
We also appreciate that they provide easy transactions to their clients by offering alternative payment options. Clients can opt to pay online through their website, or they can also pay through their credit cards.
All of this convenience, however, require an expensive fee. While it’s not budget-friendly, their services are highly satisfactory and may be worth the investment if you can afford them.
