The 5 Companies That’ll Make Your Home Cozy with the Best Attic Insulations in Portland

Health & Safety: We picked crews who didn’t leave behind rat droppings or that weird chemical smell. We like it when teams seal up attics and use non-toxic materials whenever possible. It’s just better for everyone—homeowners and the planet.

Mold Resistance: Mold in the attic is one of those problems that sneaks up on you. We asked companies if they actually use moisture barriers that can handle our soggy winters and warm summers.

Accountability: If something went sideways, we wanted to know if these companies actually showed up to fix it without charging extra.

Staff: We grilled the staff to see if they really knew attic insulation inside out. We weren’t looking for people who just watched a YouTube tutorial the night before.

Attic insulation is one of those things people only notice when it goes wrong. If it’s not done right, the house turns into a sauna.

We’ve seen people try to save a buck by hiring a budget crew, only to end up with a $5,000 hole in their savings and a lot of regret.

To help you avoid that, we talked to contractors and homeowners to find ones that actually got it right from the start. Here are the attic insulation services in Portland that local homeowners trust!

Hi-Provac takes on the jobs other companies avoid. They handle rodent-infested attics and moldy crawl spaces, with a zero-dust policy that actually holds up.

One family used their free inspection. They loved how the team vacuumed out decades of old fiberglass and rodent mess from their attic. It finally got rid of that musky smell that just wouldn’t go away.

But what really caught our attention was their specialty gear. They bring in an industrial vacuum truck that can suck out even soggy, fire-damaged insulation.

Another one of their clients told us Hi-Provac not only removed the insulation but fogged the space with disinfectant.

Their moisture control is solid. We like how the team dries out flood-damaged attics and swaps in mold-resistant rock wool.

The catch? They’re so popular that people might have to wait during Portland’s rainy season. One couple told us they waited three weeks for their attic insulation to be done.

Pros

  • Handles rodent-infested attics
  • Zero-dust policy
  • Free inspections
  • Industrial vacuum truck
  • Disinfects attics too
  • Solid moisture control

Cons

  • Wait time up to 3 weeks for appointments

Enjoyable and easy experience

“We had our old attic insulation removed and new insulation installed. It was such an enjoyable and easy experience to work with Emmanuel and the Hiprovac team. They worked quickly, took the time to explain everything that they were doing, and went the extra mile to make sure all of the details were completed. We can immediately feel the difference in the temperature in our home. 10/10 recommend”

They described the process and answered every question

“I am very satisfied with Hi Provac and their work to remove attic insulation, seal and install attic insulation, and install dense pack insulation in the walls of my house. From my first phone call through each part of the project, they described the process and answered every question. I highly recommend their services.”

GreenSavers pairs detailed energy audits with health-first fixes. Their free assessments map out every air gap in the attic and flag old insulation that’s full of dust.

After the assessment, they move fast to install new insulation where it’s needed. One homeowner told us their Greenfiber cellulose, made from 85% recycled paper, not only silenced creaky floorboards but also muffled outsidenoise.

We like that their material choices prioritize safety without sacrificing performance. GreenSavers uses CertainTeed’s formaldehyde-free fiberglass in attics, helping ease concerns about off-gassing.

For damp spaces, their Knauf EcoBatt recycled fiberglass insulation has held up against mold where old insulation failed.

What really seals their reputation is accountability. After a miscommunication left gaps in one homeowner’s insulation, GreenSavers came back and fixed it. They even covered the cost of the energy audit.

Plus, they handle all the rebate and tax credit paperwork, though it can take a while. One of their client told us they waited six weeks for their rebate.

Pros

  • Detailed energy audits
  • Free assessments
  • Greenfiber cellulose
  • Formaldehyde-free fiberglass
  • Knauf EcoBatt recycled fiberglass
  • Covers the cost of energy audits

Cons

  • Up to six weeks for rebates

Honestly, a pleasure to work with

“We’ve had a great experience with GreenSavers and intend to continue using them for future projects to improve our home energy efficiency. They’re honestly a pleasure to work with, communication is timely, and explanations of the work and expectations are very clear. Our first project was attic insulation and the quality of the custom work was excellent. The team arrived and wrapped up on time and we were amazed at how much of an immediate difference it made. GreenSavers also made the rebate process really easy. If you’re curious about what you can do to improve the efficiency of your home, I highly recommend scheduling a walk-through (and the work!) with GreenSavers.”

Super responsive and knowledgeable

“GreenSavers did a wonderful job replacing our electric furnace for a heat pump and all the insulation in the attic. Super responsive and knowledgeable from the first visit, to installation and follow up questions. We wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again and recommend them for any of our hvac/insulation issues.”

The Spray Foam Company covers everything from spray foam to rockwool. One homeowner told us their closed-cell spray foam sealed up every gap in a century-old attic and cut their winter heating bill by 30%.

We like how the closed-cell stuff is dense enough to block airflow and keep moisture out, while the open-cell version is lighter and absorbs sound.

Their blow-in insulation is excellent for quick attic jobs. One homeowner picked it to fill up uneven joists with recycled cellulose.

The Rockwool insulation stands up to fire, water, and mold, giving people who want something that lasts peace of mind.

Batt insulation isn’t as flashy, but it does the job for moisture problems in damp attic crawl spaces. One family told us it kept humidity under control without any expensive renovations.

Now, while most projects finish quickly, rockwool attic insulation projects can be delayed by a week or two if supplies run out.

Pros

  • Spray foam to rockwool insulation
  • Seals up gaps nicely
  • Blow-in for quick jobs
  • Fire, water, and mold-resistant rockwool
  • Batt insulation for moisture issues

Cons

  • Rockwool attic insulation projects get delayed

Did a great job installing spray foam insulation

“Andrew did a great job installing spray foam insulation in the eves of our attic. He is responsive, respectful and fairly priced. We highly recommend him.”

Great experience insulating my attic

“Great experience insulating my attic.  In and out in 2 days.  Did a great job explaining the process/benefits/and tools used.  House is sealed up tight and much more comfortable.  Highly recommend.”

Alpha Solutions has attic insulation down to a science, thanks to its mix of tailored fixes. They can handle anything, whether it’s spray foam for an airtight seal or blown-in insulation for filling every gap.

One homeowner told us their spray foam attic insulation got rid of drafts and even cut down on airport noise.

Even if something goes wrong, Alpha Solutions comes back to redo the job and sometimes even upgrades clients to fire-retardant foam for free.

They’re especially good with older homes. One client told us Alpha Solutions used blown-in cellulose to insulate hard-to-reach spots, finally eliminating the cold zones space heaters couldn’t reach.

For budget projects, their fiberglass attic insulation is still a go-to. One first-time buyer told us that having it installed in her attic cut her winter gas bills in half.

But a few people said the team could be tidier. One homeowner told us the crew left their tools lying around, which turned into a safety hazard.

Pros

  • Tailored fixes
  • Spray foam to blow-in insulation
  • Redoes jobs for free
  • Good for older homes
  • Budget-friendly fiberglass

Cons

  • Team could be tidier

The customer service was outstanding

“Very thorough and attention to detail was very high. The customer service was outstanding. Highly recommend to anyone”

They respond back when you have questions

“I appreciate that they respond back when you have questions,  thanks.”

Crawl Pros are known for their dust-free removal process that actually keeps attics clean.

Their team focuses on attic-specific prep. One homeowner told us Crawl Pros had tented their attic with plastic sheeting and vacuumed out every bit of debris.

Once the crawl space is spotless, we like how they seal up every air gap with low-expansion foam and fog with EXPEL, a non-toxic odor neutralizer. One client told us this kept their attic free from rodents and smells.

They also pay attention to R-values, which indicate how well an attic insulates against heat. They maintain R-values in older homes by packing attic gaps with formaldehyde-free insulation.

We like that they tie it off with nylon twine or another natural option. One homeowner said this cut their energy bill in half.

The downside? They’re not always available for last-minute attic jobs. One homeowner told us they had to call a few weeks ahead to get a guaranteed spot.

Pros

  • Dust-free removal
  • Low-expansion foam
  • Use EXPEL to get rid of odors
  • Formaldehyde-free insulation
  • Natural insulation options

Cons

  • Not always available for last-minute jobs

Attic insulation estimate was quick & friendly

“Our attic insulation estimate was quick & friendly and the bid was very reasonable! The crew built plastic tunnels each time they came out to keep our house clean, which it did!

They vacuumed out all of the musty old 1976 insulation and did a super thorough job of sealing all the openings into the attic to prevent air leaks and also installed the all-important soffit vent baffles.

They pumped in the new cellulose to R49 and since then the house temp is far more stable/comfortable. The A/C used to run all day & evening in summer trying in vain to cool to 72F and now it runs maybe 4h per day to keep the temp at 70F. That should save us quite a bit!”

Knocked out our attic insulation install in THREE HOURS

“The skilled tradesmen from Crawl Pros knocked out our attic insulation install in THREE HOURS. We left the house, and came home to find it exactly as we left it, except warmer and quieter. I assumed we would be dusting and vacuuming for hours, but everything was well taped-off and our home was spotless. We are already looking forward to having our floors/crawl space insulated next.”
