Pros

  • Low prices
  • Has outdoor dining options
  • By the harbor
  • Wide range of beverages
  • Good food

Cons

  • No PPV fights
  • Often busy
  • Mixed reviews on service

Portland Sports Bar & Grill is a family-owned business that’s conveniently located by the harbor.

Most of their customers prefer to sit outdoors, and we recommend you do the same. The indoor setting is a bit stuffy, so the patio seats are a better option to have more space and see the sun.

You’ll definitely get the bang for your buck if you dine here. Their low prices are one of the main reasons why people keep coming back, so they’re a good pick if you need a good affordable meal.

However, we do think they’re more of a grill than a sports bar. For one, they don’t stream pay-per-view fights, so if that’s what you’re searching for, please look at the other options on this list.

The majority of their customer base comes for meals and happy hour, so they do tend to be busy. If you’re coming in with a large party, it’s better to make a reservation in advance unless you’re willing to wait to be seated.

The feedback on their service is a little bit mixed. This largely depends on the server you get, but we’ve noticed that the service quality goes down as the place gets busier.

However, most of their customers enjoy the crowd and the environment during games and happy hour, so that’s another factor you may want to consider.

But if you want to avoid a crowd and just want to get a meal, we advise that you go in the middle of the day for a more relaxed atmosphere.

Pros

  • Rotating tap options
  • Has 32 TVs
  • Full-service bar
  • Fun atmosphere during games
  • Wide indoor space

Cons

  • No sound on TVs
  • Limited cocktail menu
  • Some complaints on food

The Independent Sports Bar & Grill is a go-to place for many when it comes to watching sports.

They’ve got all the major sports packages ready, and with 32 TVs available, you don’t have to fight for space with other viewers. There’s also enough space indoors if you’re going to bring your group of friends for the game.

With all the TVs they have, not all of them will have sound. Sometimes the main game will have the sound on, but on other days, they will play ambient music and turn off the sound on the TVs.

If you’re coming in for a drink, you’ll be impressed with their rotating tap options. This does tend to change, but you can easily spot the current tap options they have on one of their TVs.

When it comes to food, it’s been mostly hit or miss. We’ve observed that most of the good feedback on their food comes from traditional bar food items compared to main courses.

Thus, we can say they’re more of a drinking place than they are for eating, but that makes them a good option if you’re mainly looking for a sports bar to watch your favorite games.

However, we mostly refer to beer when we say drinks. They’ve got a generous beer menu, sure, but they’ve got limited choices for cocktails or wine.

With all that said, we do think they’re a great choice for a sports bar, especially if you need a regular place for Sunday night football.

Pros

  • Has dartboards and basketball hoops
  • Multiple screens
  • Has online calendar for events
  • Minors allowed
  • Wide space

Cons

  • Limited sports shown
  • Limited parking
  • Mixed reviews on food
  • Can get crowded

Spirit of 77 is an arcade-style sports bar with dart boards and basketball hoops for you to play with. This way, you’ll have other ways to have some fun outside of watching your team play.

They’re a great place to watch football, and that’s the kind of crowd they mostly invite. But the regulars are Seahawks fans, and that’s something to note if you’re rooting for another team.

They also invite quite a crowd during NBA Playoffs but not so much for other sports. One customer we’ve spoken to noted that the staff refused their request to watch soccer on one screen, as they must show the same sport on all screens.

They also tend to be packed when it’s the NBA Finals or the Super Bowl, and the place can get cramped. So if you prefer a roomier setup, then other places on this list will be better for you.

When it comes to food, they mostly serve bar food and snacks but not full meals. The feedback on their food is mixed, with some enjoying it and some finding it subpar.

We’ve also noted some instances of customers being double-charged for their bills. This was mostly during busy game nights, and some customers weren’t able to spot it until their card was already charged.

While we do think they’re a fun and lively sports bar, we advise you to double-check your bill before you pay.

Pros

  • All-you-can-eat breakfast on weekends
  • Low prices
  • Multiple beers on tap
  • Has a TV in each booth
  • All major sports being shown

Cons

  • Understaffed
  • Complaints of slow service
  • Some complaints on food quality

McGillacuddy’s Sports Bar & Grill isn’t just a great option for when you want to watch sports but also for a meal with your friends or family.

First, they’ve got all-you-can-eat breakfast weekends for $12.50 per head. Their regular menu has a good variety, including options that kids will love.

But if you’re there to get a drink, then you’ll be happy knowing that they’ve got over 20 beers on tap. Nearly everyone we’ve spoken to has remarked that their beer is always served at the right temperature, which is great for beer enthusiasts.

When it comes to watching your favorite teams, you won’t have to fight for space or which sport to watch. Each booth has its own TV and remote, so you can control the channel and the volume.

We think they’re definitely a place for fun and entertainment, considering their number of screens and weekly karaoke nights. But there were some complaints regarding food and service.

Customers noted that McGillacuddy’s is understaffed, which means service can be slow especially when the place is busy. Thus, the servers can’t be as attentive as they should be to each table.

Furthermore, there were also complaints about food quality. These were mostly about a lack of seasoning or food arriving a bit cold.

That said, service is quicker if you’re ordering drinks, so we think they’re a better fit if you’re only heading out to watch sports and have some drinks.

  • Has 25 TVsAll major sports being shown
  • Has 24 beers on tap
  • Has video poker
  • Offers all-day breakfast
  • Has 25 TVs

Cons

  • Unremarkable food
  • Slow service

Kingston Sports Bar & Grill has been running since 1982 and has built a regular customer base.

One major advantage they have is that they’re located close to Providence Park and invite a lot of soccer fans to their bar. They’ve proven to be a great place to get after-game drinks.

But outside of soccer, you can watch your sport of choice on any of their 25 TVs. If you’re looking for other entertainment options, they’ve also got a pool table and video poker.

Some customers find their interior to be a bit stuffy, but we think it’s a matter of personal taste. Their layout and furniture are a bit dated, but it does give off the atmosphere of a vintage sports bar.

Their menu options are in line with what a traditional sports bar would offer as well. It’s mostly pub grub, and most of their customers—even the regulars—have noted that it’s pretty unremarkable but not bad in any way.

Service can also be slow, and it will take some time before your order gets to you, so we can’t recommend them if you’re hungry and looking for quick service.

However, they do have 24 beers on tap and good happy hour deals. They also offer a special game day menu with exclusive specials.

Overall, they’re a great place to visit and drink with your friends while you watch sports, but it may be a good idea to get your food elsewhere.
