The 5 Best Water Heater Installation Services in Portland

The 5 Best Water Heater Installation Services in Portland

How We Picked

Quality of work

We looked into the efficiency of the on-site installation; the reliability of the project management; and the quickness of the turnaround time. Every factor is, of course, subject to the quality of the installation.

Experience

We chose installers who have been in business for at least 2 years. We also did a short background to assess their installer knowledge and skills, based on their past projects.

Range of water heaters available

Based on the range of models, make, and size of available water heaters. We also prefer units proven to have better energy efficiency.

Rate per installation

We evaluated the cost per installation service. Overall, we prefer companies that charge within the average in the city, however, we can accept pricier rates depending on work quality.

Pros

  • More than ten years of industry experience
  • Same-day water heater installer
  • Installs standard gas and electric water heaters
  • Tankless water heater available
  • Sticks to quoted price

Cons

  • Text-based communication

Joe Water Heater, LLC seems to understand how frustrating and inconvenient life is without a water heater. And we can tell this due to the fact that they’re one of the fastest installers in the city – all thanks to past clients that led us to their doors.

In this regard, Joe offers same-day water heater installations and other services such as replacements and maintenance. Plus, we found them to be trustworthy in this regard because they have more than ten years of industry experience.

However, their installation service may be limited because they only have experience installing standard gas and electric water heaters. Though they now have knowledge of installing tankless water heaters, which is a relief for those who want to have those.

Clients had praised them for producing high-quality work at a reasonable cost, which we personally found to be true. They guarantee a low price, and from what we’ve heard, they stick to the price they quoted (as they should, anyway!)

Unfortunately, we don’t find their mode of communication to be at all convenient. The company uses text-based communication, although their clients, much to our surprise, thought their responses were quick enough to let it off the hook.

With all that said, even though they had flaws, Joe still met our requirements for an ideal water heater installer. Our evaluation revealed that they’re capable technicians who provide high-quality service at reasonable prices and in a timely manner.

Pros

  • Over 40 years of experience in the industry
  • Installs water heater in both residential and commercial settings
  • Energy-efficient water heaters
  • Excellent customer service
  • Free estimates
  • Phone service available 24/7

Cons

  • Doesn’t guarantee low prices
  • Limited water heaters available

It’s not surprising that The Heating Specialist can provide high-quality water heater installations as a full-service HVAC company.

Not only that, but because they have such knowledge and enough experience, they can cater to both residential and commercial clients.

They’re basically experts in water heaters, having over 40 years of experience in the industry. And because they know what they’re doing, they make recommendations based on the client’s home’s hot water needs (expert insight is always a plus).

But we believe that they’re a very good fit for those looking for energy-efficient water heaters, as they specialize in that. In fact, they only install tankless and indirect fired water heaters, which allows clients to save a lot of money and, of course, energy.

Another piece of good news is that their reviews are mostly positive, indicating that the majority of their customers were pleased with their service. From scheduling to installation, the company has received praise for its promptness and professionalism.

However, when it comes to their rates, they don’t have a price guide available (though understandable given as this type of service does not typically have fixed rates). The bright side is you can contact them for free estimates.

Speaking of reaching out to them, we appreciate the fact that, despite their limited operating hours, their phone service is available 24/7. This simply means that you can ring them at your most convenient time.

Pros

  • Installs all types of water heaters
  • Upfront pricing
  • Financing options available
  • Excellent on-site management
  • Can contact any time including after hours for emergency services

Cons

  • Initial assessment/proposal is not free (no free estimates)
  • Minor inconsistencies with punctuality
  • Difficult to schedule

With 3 Mountains Plumbing, you can rest assured that there will be no surprises, as all of their prices are guaranteed upfront. This includes their water heater installations, where you can get installation proposals for as little as $30.

Although this may appear to be costly to some, given that others provide free estimates, we believe it’s well worth it. First, this includes payment plans for the entire installation service – plus you’re guaranteed to have them for maintenance and repairs if you choose their service.

We’ve confirmed that clients can expect to work with skilled and equipped technicians. They’re even trained to provide smooth operations, taking the time to explain all of the options before beginning any service.

Aside from their delightful overall on-site management, the fact that they can install all types (most brands) of water heaters, including the in-demand tankless model, is what drew us in. This capacity is a total plus since not every client wants the same water heater.

On the other hand, there have been reports of minor inconsistencies with their punctuality, much to our dismay. According to the reviews, some customers were promised same-day service but were instead pushed back a few days.

They may have scheduling issues, which we take very seriously, but the end result of their installations appears to be worthwhile in the end. Plus, they offer a full range of water heater services, making them a great contact for future needs.

Pros

  • Over 40 years of experience
  • Installs all types of water heaters
  • Residential and commercial installations
  • Friendly attitude
  • Can schedule an appointment online
  • Caters to emergency installations

Cons

  • Does not provide water heaters (services only)

Stan The Hot Water Man, despite being located outside of Portland, continues to provide water heating services to homeowners and business owners in the city. They’ve been doing it for over 40 years and will likely continue to be in demand in the future.

Whether you’re going green or you just need a fresh replacement, they can help. To do that, they’re able to install and service all major types of water heaters, including electric, gas, tankless, and power-vented models.

Because of that, we’re not surprised to read positive reviews from happy customers, who mostly praise them for their friendly attitude. The most important thing for us is to be prepared for the installation, and Stan did not disappoint as we found that they’re fully equipped.

However, as wonderful as they are, the company’s sole focus is on water heater installation and repair. This means that their service does not include providing water heaters; rather, they only provide services for them.

The good news is that they have reliable contacts for where you can get your new water heater, whichever model you like. At least, this makes choosing a little bit better, although the downside is that ordering may take a while.

Stan The Hot Water Man also received bonus points from us for convenience. Well, clients can schedule appointments online (their website is user-friendly), and they offer emergency installation and repair.

Pros

  • Specializes in installing tankless water heaters
  • Also caters to traditional water heaters
  • Up-to-date on the latest equipment for installation
  • Assists clients in choosing the best model of water heater
  • Offers specials and seasonal discounts

Cons

  • Can be pricey
  • Minor inconsistencies in work quality

Sky Heating is yet another energy-efficient focused water heater installer in Portland and nearby areas. They specialize in installing tankless water heater services, so it’s almost guaranteed you’ll have your environmentally friendly water heater with them.

We understand that tankless water heater installation is not a do-it-yourself project and requires the services of a trained professional. Fortunately, we found that their plumbers are up to date on the latest equipment, tools, and techniques for installing it safely and effectively.

Besides the actual service they provide, we discovered that they also assist clients in selecting the best tankless model for their needs (based on the size of the family and how much water is used each day). This is a free service, so it’s a big plus for us.

However, the service they deliver isn’t at all affordable, especially for those who are on a tight budget. It’s great that they have special offers and seasonal discounts on all of their services, but they rarely have ones for water heater installation.

In addition, while they specialize in tankless water heaters, they can also service other popular types of water heaters. Gas, electric, and traditional storage tank water heaters are all included, so range is pretty much in their ballpark.

Having said that, we believe they can be a good fit for those looking to transition from traditional to tankless, as they are knowledgeable about both. There are minor complaints about minor inconsistencies in their work, but other than that, everything is pretty great.
