I recently checked out Seeking Space Yoga in Portland, and I loved the variety of classes they offer. Whether you’re into restorative yoga or vinyasa flow, there’s something for everyone.
What stood out to me was their holistic approach, incorporating mindfulness in many classes. I connected with myself deeper through their pranayama, a breath control technique that enhances physical health and mental clarity.
The instructors are great, too. They really know their stuff and make an effort to cater to individual needs, which made my time feel more personal. Plus, the studio has such an inviting atmosphere.
That said, I do have some concerns about the cancellation policy. It requires a 30-day notice, and late cancellations can result in a fee of $25 or more. That could be a bit stressful for anyone with a busy schedule who can’t always predict their availability weeks in advance.
You have to try this class!
“Kimmie is such an intuitive and gifted yoga instructor. When I went to her class yesterday, I came in feeling emotionally unsteady. Through the poses, breath work, rhythm of movement, her words and restorative poses I left feeling stable, grounded, and refreshed. You have to try this class!!!”
Laurie Dunne, Google review
The teachers are all phenomenal
“I’ve been coming to Seeking Space Yoga for years and I love it. It’s a welcoming space for folks of all skill levels and body types. There are many styles of classes and the teachers are phenomenal. Rachel, the owner, has opened a sister studio called Yin Yoga Space and it’s wonderful too!”

The People’s Yoga is all about inclusivity. They always ensure that everyone feels at home, regardless of background or experience. It’s refreshing to see a studio that truly embraces diversity.
What I loved most was their affordability. They offer low-cost classes that make it easy for anyone to join in, which is such a huge plus.
Plus, they have scholarship programs to help community members in need. This really shows their commitment to social equity and inclusivity.
They also have multiple studio rooms to accommodate classes for different group sizes. I love this because it ensures a comfortable setting for all of us participants.
However, the experience could be improved with better soundproofing in the studios. The traffic noise from outside can be a bit distracting during classes.
My chronic neck pain has disappeared because of their classes
“I love The People’s Yoga and I love yoga teacher Margarita Smith even more! I take Restorative with her on Tuesdays and Gentle Hatha on Thursdays. As a result, my chronic neck pain has disappeared, my sleep is deeper, and my shoulders aren’t permanently scrunched up to my ears. The space is airy and clean, the vibe is welcoming to all, and class prices are reasonable. So glad I discovered this space and this teacher.”

I love this place so much
“I love this place. It’s so welcoming to all body types and skill levels. It makes such a difference to be practicing in a space without mirrors. Definitely the kind of vibe I look for in a yoga studio – more about everyone’s own practice and connection with their body than anything else.”

YogaSix Slabtown also has a wide range of classes that cater to everyone, whether you’re a total newbie or a seasoned pro. From hot and intense sessions to more laid-back and restorative practices, there’s something for every mood and fitness level.
Their focus on creating a sensory yoga experience also stood out to me. It’s not just about the poses; they aim to engage all your senses. This makes the classes feel more immersive and enjoyable.
Another unique aspect is their integration of TRX training with yoga. This combo allows for a solid mix of strength and flexibility you don’t see everywhere, keeping things interesting and challenging.
I just got a little overwhelmed by their marketing strategies. Even after I said I wasn’t interested in a membership, I was still flooded with calls, emails, and texts from them.
Instructor was willing to adjust for my needs
“I just had my first experience here and did the Candlelight Restore class. It was the perfect way to end a day of self-care. Kristi did an adjustment on me during class and it was SO GOOD. As a person who’s really sensitive to lighting, I also LOVE the lighting used in the studio. It’s super vibey and soothing for my nervous system. They do it right. I’ll definitely be back for more classes.”

Staff was super friendly and helpful, instructor was knowledgeable
“My first visit to Yoga Six Slabtown was such a wonderful experience. The studio is conveniently located, clean, and welcoming. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The studio temperature os perfectly warm, the instructor was knowledgeable and inclusive, giving several levels of modifications. I enjoyed the Slow Flow class, challenging in the right way but not difficult. I hope to return soon to check out some of their other offerings.”

Firelight Yoga is a gem in Portland’s yoga scene. About half of the classes are heated, which is perfect for those who enjoy an extra challenge and the detox benefits.
They offer traditional Vinyasa classes, as well as options like Buti and Power Sculpt for those looking to try something new.
The studio has a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to connect with fellow yogis. The instructors also come from diverse backgrounds and know how to motivate, which I found really inspiring.
However, there are some issues with class timing. Some instructors don’t stick to the scheduled durations, often running significantly over. This can be frustrating, especially when there isn’t clear communication about the extended times.
A lot of class options
“I absolutely love this studio! The staff welcomes you by name once they have seen you a few times. The instructors are all kind, passionate, and bring their own style to each class. They keep things interesting, even after a few years and hundreds of sessions in. There’s a class for everyone! Choose from heated or unheated, easy or challenging, grounded to a bit woo. Teachers often offer options for varied levels of difficulty/ability and stress that you “take what you need, leave what you don’t.” They also do lots of special focus classes (inversions, meditation, sound baths, etc.) and fundraisers to great local nonprofits based on participation. Firelight is a treasured part of my community, health, and routine – thanks for all you do!”

Classes are nicely varied and inclusive
“I’ve been going to this studio for a few months now. Teachers are exceptional. The classes are nicely varied and inclusive. You can get into a groove with a hot practice or take a more calming, restorative class in the unheated room. They also have sculpting classes for an extra strengthening push. The studio is very clean and spacious. Highly recommend.”

YoYoYogi has such an inviting atmosphere with its big windows and exposed brick walls. The absence of mirrors might take some getting used to, but it really helps shift your focus inward. This allows you to connect with your body instead of worrying about how you look.
The variety of classes they offer is impressive. They have specialized classes like prenatal yoga and mindfulness meditation, but the standout is definitely the candlelight hot yoga. The candles had a soothing ambiance that made the class more enjoyable.
I appreciate how they integrate mindfulness into their classes, emphasizing both physical practice and mental wellness.
The mobile app is also a nice bonus. It makes it easy to check schedules and book classes, which is perfect for anyone with a busy lifestyle.
Just a heads up, though: YoYoYogi does charge a fee for mat rentals, which is a bit unusual since other studios in Portland offer free mat usage. This policy can be inconvenient, especially for those who don’t want to carry their mats or pay extra for rentals.
All instructors brought their own creative flavor to the classes
“I’ve been able to attend classes at the YoYoYogi Yoga Studio since February of 2024. I’ve been lucky enough to catch classes from Dena, Holly, and Kyra. All of these lovely instructors brought their own creative flavor to the classes. I felt like I got a true workout with each and every flow. The music was energetic, the vibe is welcoming, and the studio smells clean. I can’t wait to go back and attend more classes! On a final note, I love how many times I’ve been able to pet the studio dogs before classes.”

The instructors are all super sweet and knowledgeable
“I love this studio! It’s my first time practicing since taking a very long break from yoga. I’m still learning and this studio and the instructors are super sweet and knowledgeable. I’ve had a pleasant encounter with everyone here. The hot yoga classes are my favorite and the instructors have great playlists to get you through your practice. I’m definitely going to keep coming back!”
