The 5 Best Apartment Buildings in Portland
How We Picked
Neighborhood
One of the key factors in choosing an apartment building is the neighborhood. Is it easy to commute to? Is it safe? We think that by considering this, it will make your life much easier in the long run.
Cost
In considering the cost, we also thought about if you’re getting your money’s worth. Moreover, we also checked what it covers such as utilities and such.
Amenities
When you’re looking for an apartment building, it’s also important to find one with amenities that fit your needs. This could also be what sets it apart from other apartment buildings. Because of this, we thought it was important to consider what the building has available to match the needs of different types of people.
Security Measures
One of the most important things to check before moving to a new place is to check how safe it is. We included apartment buildings with security measures, so you can be assured that you and your possessions would be safe.

Pros
- Great location
- Pet-friendly
- Offers great city views
- Great upkeep of the building
- Impressive management
- Apartments have great storage
Cons
- On the pricier side
The Cordelia Apartments earned a spot on our list of best apartment buildings in Portland because of its convenient location.
It’s quite near coffee shops, grocery stores, and other places that people usually frequent. When we interviewed the tenants here, it was what most of them were enthusiastic about.
Don’t be fooled, though! Rather than the surroundings being bustling, it’s a peaceful neighborhood, to our surprise.
It’s also quite easy to go to different places because of the various modes of transportation available in the area. We think this is also one of the strongest selling points of this apartment building because it could certainly make a tenant’s life easier.
It also helps that the management here is impressive. The people are accommodating and responsive, which makes the moving process smoother than most.
They also do great upkeep of the building, so everything, even the public areas, is clean.
Pets are allowed here, but they only accept a maximum of two. We still think it’s better than a lot of apartment buildings that don’t allow pets at all.
Moreover, there were also a lot of tenants who mentioned that they love the storage space in their apartments, which is an upside not a lot have.
We did, however, notice that they’re on the pricier side. It might be justifiable for some, but this might be a dealbreaker for those looking for a more budget-friendly option.

Pros
- Available apartments are already listed on their website
- Quiet apartments
- Pet-friendly
- Great views
- Nice value for the cost
Cons
- Management could be improved
One of the things tenants love about this place is its value for money. Most of them mentioned that while the rent isn’t necessarily cheap, it’s a lot better than other places with the same price points.
We could say the same thing because the rooms are quite new, the view is amazing, and the design feels luxurious. As we went in, it was no surprise that a lot of people vouched for this apartment building.
Some of the tenants we got ahold of also said that their time here was peaceful and quiet. Everyone seemed to mind their business and respected their neighbors enough to keep noise to a minimum.
Some chose to rent an apartment here because pets are allowed. Even the staff in the building are friendly with the pets!
We think it’s quite easy to choose what apartment works for you in this building because you can easily see them on their website. They even have virtual tours available to make it more convenient for you.
The prices are also already available, so it saves the hassle of asking for a quote and waiting to hear back from the agents.
When talking with the tenants, we also asked them what they think needs to be improved in this building. Some of them already found their experience to be perfect, but some mentioned the management.
There were times they were unresponsive and unhelpful with the concerns of the tenants. While the majority still had a pleasant experience with the management, we still think this is important to mention.

Pros
- Helpful maintenance team
- Reasonable prices
- Great location
- Pet-friendly
- Lots of great amenities
Cons
- Management needs improvement
If there’s one thing that we love at Block 17, it’s the fact that they have some great amenities. It’s actually what enticed us in the first place to check it out.
To name a few of the amenities, there’s a roof deck where they hold spin classes, yoga, and music performances. There’s also a 24-hour fitness center, an open courtyard, bike storage, billiards and Wall Scrabble, workspaces, and a lot more.
We think there’s something here for everyone, no matter what lifestyle you have.
When we reached out to their current and past tenants, we asked them what made them want to lease an apartment here and what they love most about living here.
There were a lot who loved the reasonable prices. It’s reasonable in a way that the price is worth it for the quality of living here.
Some also mentioned that the maintenance team was quite helpful and easy to reach. We think that this is what a lot of places lack, so we were glad to have found a place with a reliable maintenance crew.
It’s also pet friendly, so you don’t have to worry about looking for a place for you and your fur baby.
We also asked the tenants what they think needs to be improved in this apartment building and most of them had the same thing to say – the management. It seems that the management isn’t quite skilled at answering tenants’ concerns and problems.
We hope this could be improved because we do think that Block 17 is a great place to live in.
Nevertheless, we still think they’re worthy to be recommended because of the different things you can have access to here as a resident.

Pros
- Great views
- Quick maintenance team
- Easy to schedule a tour
Cons
- Pet-friendly but has breed restrictions
One of the things that The Union Apartments should boast about is the spectacular views you can get from their rooms.
When we talked to their tenants, this is what most of them have to say. A lot of them even enthusiastically showed us photos of the city views from different parts of the day.
We think it’s safe to say that it is, indeed, breathtaking.
If you want to see the building for yourself, it’s quite easy to schedule a 45-minute tour with them. All you need to do is go to their website, pick an apartment size you’d like to see, and set a date and time when you’re most available.
We had a lovely experience with our tour because of our knowledgeable guide who answered all the questions we might have.
During our interview with the tenants, we found that another thing that people love about this apartment building is the maintenance team. It’s because they’re quick to respond and they’re skilled at what they do.
Here, you can be assured that someone will answer your requests if you need something fixed, which is always a plus.
This apartment building is pet friendly, but unfortunately, they have breed restrictions disallowing breeds such as American Pit Bull Terriers, Chow Chow, Shar Peis, and more. If you have any of the breeds listed on their website, we’re afraid this is not the best option for you.

Pros
- Easy application process
- Great amenities
- Well-maintained building
Cons
- Management should be improved
A lot of people found it quite easy to move to Sky3 because of the easy application process. From filling out forms to the actual moving date, it seems that it was seamless, making the whole thing more stress-free.
We know how stressful a move can be, so we’re glad that they somewhat help with unloading a few burdens!
We found that a lot of their tenants also loved the community amenities here. They have storage units available, a library lounge, a bike room, a repair station, conference rooms, fitness centers, wine cellars, and more.
We think that a lot of their amenities are something you won’t see elsewhere, so we think that’s one more thing to add to the reason why Sky3 also made it to our list of best apartment buildings in Portland.
Another thing to add is that the building is well-maintained. This means that anything broken is fixed fast and the common area is cleaned regularly.
While there are a lot of advantages to living in Sky3, some tenants mentioned that the management isn’t that great. Everyone who had this opinion remembers experiencing having their requests neglected.
We hope that the apartment building’s management team is taking extra steps to improve so that more residents will have a pleasant experience.
Overall, we can say that Sky3 is a nice place to move to because of the leasing office team and the unique amenities. If this is something that caught your interest, we think they’re worth checking out.
