Pros
- 20 years in business
- Competitive daycare rates
- Well-maintained indoor and outdoor facilities
- Fully-supervised play areas
- Online webcams accessible anywhere
- Open 7 days a -week
Cons
- Minor issues with customer service
BarkZone is quite popular in the Portland area already so their name might ring a bell for most fur parents. But if you’re pretty new to their trade, we’ll walk you through some of the best things they offer to clients.
For starters, they’ve been serving clients for over 20 years – already more than enough to earn a respected status. But beyond their years of experience, we also appreciate their friendly staff who give individual attention to pets on board.
Moving on to their day care services, they charge reasonable rates for both full-day and half-day passes. Respectively, the services cost $32 and $24, which makes sense for this kind of service around the area.
At this rate, you as a pet owner get peace of mind by having the ability to view your pet via online webcams. This is accessible anywhere so you grind away on your nine-to-five while occasionally viewing their website.
As for your pets, they get to enjoy indoor and outdoor facilities, speaking a day packed with play and activities. We also found that these spaces are regularly cleaned and sanitized so we’re pretty confident with the safety of the space.
In addition to this safety, these areas are also constantly supervised to ensure order and control in the place. As proof, the company enjoys positive ratings from its patrons on major review sites such as Yelp and Google Reviews.

Pros
- Personalized customer service
- Has a meet and greet session
- Spacious nature-themed play yards
- Competitive rates
- Offers discounted packages
- Constantly supervised play areas
Cons
- Minor issues regarding dog evaluation
Dogs Dig It has been in the business since 2006, offering services such as dog daycare, dog grooming, and dog boarding. With a comprehensive range of services, we think dog owners can work with them for long-term relationships.
Focusing more on their daycare services, we like a lot of things starting from their fair rates to dog amenities. Plus, their personalized customer service makes it a more exciting experience – even for the fur parent!
One of our favorite features is their turf-covered nature-themed play yards. We like this type of amenity because it’s spacious enough for all types of dog sizes to run and play around (it’s supervised all of the time too).
What we think sets them apart is their unique approach to dog daycare, often making it more exciting for the dogs. It all starts with this “Meet & Greet” which slowly introduces the dogs for better (and safer) social play.
What’s nice about this is that if you bring your dog regularly, they get the chance to “make friends” with other dogs. This in turn teaches them a thing about trust and relationships based on these established routines.
As mentioned, the rates are pretty fair so you won’t break the bank working with them. Other than that, you may also enjoy less costly services through their discounted packages (you can contact the place if you’re interested).

Pros
- 7,000 square feet of space
- Offers daycare packages
- Competitive rates
- Comprehensive membership evaluation
- Fully-packed activities for the day
- Personalized dog programs
Cons
- Minor issues with customer service
Despite being relatively younger than most dog daycare centers in Portland, DogConnectionPDX still has what it takes to stand out. We’ll highlight some of the things we love about this place to help you decide.
For starters, their rates are within the median scale for dog daycare services in the area. Additionally, they have these daycare packages (both full-day and half-day) which can be advantageous if you have plenty of dogs.
Now that we’ve mentioned plenty, we’re super happy with the size of their facility. The sprawling 7,000 square feet of space is efficient enough for all kinds of dogs of various breeds, sizes, and personalities – that definitely won us over.
What’s even better is the fact that each program is filled with activities for all dogs. This, in our opinion, also helps with building better skills, particularly with social play with other dogs in the area (which you don’t have to worry much about because it’s supervised).
Another thing that we like to point out is their rigorous membership evaluation (strict but not intimidating). The assessment involves checking dogs’ medical history, temperament habits, and personality so they can create a suitable plan.
Knowing this approach, we’re confident that all the dogs that come into the place undergo adequate assessment. This ensures better safety for your pet since it eliminates any potential risks of harm and danger.

Pros
- Daycare 7 days per week
- Kennel-free
- 24/7 onsite staff supervision
- Large, fenced outdoor playground
- Plenty of natural light indoors
- Cozy places to sit or curl up and nap
- Free trial half-daycare for first-time guests
Cons
- Inconsistencies with follow-ups for potential clients
In choosing the best dog daycare center, we always consider its facility, most specifically, the ambiance of the environment. With 3 Dogs Boarding and Daycare, they have what it takes to provide this kind of place – and we approved of it.
To give you an idea of their facility, their 6,000 square feet outdoor area offers plenty of play structures, perfect for outdoor fun activities. While the indoor quarter (4,000 square feet) is loaded with cozy beds and chairs for your dogs to relax on.
During the daycare, fur parents can expect their puppies to enjoy exciting activities in their playing area. For meals, owners should provide food your pup is accustomed to, but the good news is that the center can offer feedings too, but it is upon your request.
We understand how important it is for you to know the people who will take good care of your dogs, and they happen to be reliable. They have friendly staff that are all trained and certified to actively interact with their daycare furry guests.
Another fun thing about them is that they offer a free trial for half-day daycare if it’s the first time for your pet. This surely is a convenient way for you to check them out and personally see their service, in our opinion.
The only downside about them is the way they’re inconsistent with follow-ups for potential customers, which we think is yet another room for improvement. But other than that, they are quite alright, especially knowing that they are budget-friendly.

Pros
- Provides safe facility both for boarding and daycare
- Cage-free and stress-free environment
- Experienced and trained staff
- No-toy approach
- Fair (reasonable) pricing, discounts available
- ‘Free Day’ for first-time customers
Cons
- No feedings during dog daycare (can be arranged if necessary)
What made us like Safe Journey Dog Boarding is the fact that they literally practice their name, by simply providing a safe environment for dogs under their care. In fact, they are Portland’s premier place for cage-free dog overnight boarding and dog daycare.
Besides the assurance of your pup’s safety, they also provide individual attention. They actually don’t use toys to entertain their furry visitors, which we truly support since we see it as the best way to teach them not to be possessive of certain things.
When it comes to their pricing system, we find that their full rate of $28 covers time periods longer than 5 hours (the usual period for a regular daycare). This doesn’t worry us at all and we even think that this is quite reasonable for a full-service daycare.
Speaking of this service, they don’t normally do feedings, which really is old news. The good thing is they are open to making special arrangements if necessary, especially if this concerns some medical requirements.
For first-time dog visitors, they have this ‘free day’ special to help acclimate a new dog to their facility (a nice strategy to gain new customers). However, this is only for the owners that are planning to bring their puppies to the center for regularized dog daycare.
Unfortunately, we’ve also heard of some issues, mostly about the dogs being dirty when the owners pick them up. Although it is quite concerning seeing that they don’t address it enough, it also shows that your pup enjoyed the stay since a little bit of dirt means they played hard.
