Pros

  • Completed over 1,600 projects
  • Practices “complete satisfaction” on installations
  • Recognized as a 5-star trade ally of the Energy Trust of Oregon
  • Wide range of replacement window options
  • Fast response and turnaround times
  • Thorough post-installation clean-up

Cons

  • Minor issues with appointments and communication

Experience is one of the very first things we look for when it comes to window installers – and this shop didn’t disappoint. They’ve been in the industry since 2004 and have already completed more than 1,600 projects.

This family-owned company earned our trust through various offerings, even beyond their services. For starters, they never start any project unless the steps have been thoroughly explained to the client (and we love that, of course).

They’re also very courteous and responsive as they address requests on time, whether it’s via email or phone. Plus, we love how they always arrive prepared for the scheduled appointment, making the entire installation much faster.

Now, in terms of product range, they basically have their hands on every replacement window you can imagine. To name a few, they have awning windows, sliding windows, and placement windows (they even have energy-efficient windows if that’s what you’re in for).

Making this matter even better is their comprehensive installation process that starts with an inspection and ends with a clean-up. The majority of their past clients favor their work and so far, no complaint has been recorded about the quality of their work.

In line with that, they basically practice this “complete satisfaction” approach in the work that they do. That means that they won’t get the full payment from you unless you’re totally happy with the job – a pretty neat touch for all clients!

Pros

  • Over 20 years in business
  • Trade ally with the Energy Trust of Oregon
  • Competitive installation rates
  • Wide range of window styles, frames, and brands
  • Free in-home estimates
  • Financing options available

Cons

  • Minor issues with responsiveness

Lifetime Windows & Doors has 20 years worth of experience when it comes to window installations. Other than their obvious expertise in this field, they have a lot going on for the clients from consultation to process and communication.

The company’s team of professionals is constantly trained in various areas of home improvement. This is why we think they have such a positive customer rating because past clients have nothing to offer but pure praises.

Like most companies, they also offer a free in-home estimate in case you want to try them out for a project. The good news is, that most clients found their estimates favorable (and we do too since they charge within the median in the Portland area).

Among their vast collection of window types, clients can have their tiny joys simply browsing through their catalog. They can do a wide range of window styles (sliding, picture, single hung, etc.) and various window frames (fiberglass, wood, aluminum, etc).

The real highlight among these options though is their energy-efficient window replacements. The company is a trade ally with the Energy Trust of Oregon, so that’s a good sign that does help in making homes more energy-efficient.

Finally, if you do think that the estimates are way too high for you, you can always seek their financing options. One of their promos includes 0% interest for 12 months, so you may want to look into that in case you’re interested.

Pros

  • Thousands of windows in-stock
  • One of the biggest window suppliers in Portland
  • Discounted and competitive prices
  • Offers custom orders
  • Carries lifetime warranties for most custom orders
  • Energy Star partner
  • Wide range of window brands

Cons

  • Issues with material ordering
  • Issues with customer service

Discount Windows and Doors is one of the premier destinations in Portland when it comes to window supplies. They have thousands of window materials in stock, ensuring that there’s a wide range of options for all.

Apart from selling windows to just about every area in Portland, they also perform installations. And according to most of the clients, they’re very reliable in this department, often finishing projects on time and leaving the site spotless.

Other than that, they also offer custom orders for fiberglass, aluminum, vinyl, and wood windows. This expands the client’s ability to truly achieve the style they want, which is obviously a plus for us.

The best part about these custom orders is that they usually carry lifetime warranties (depending on the manufacturer). We recommend looking into this matter in case you want personalized windows for your home.

As a big box store, it’s natural for the place to offer its products at factory prices (regardless of whether you’re a residential or commercial client). With this in mind, we think they’re a good choice if you have a large-scale project in mind.

With a wide range of window brands available to clients, there are basically countless options in-store. Plus. they’re an Energy Star partner, so there’s a possibility for energy-efficient window installations.

Pros

  • 40 years of experience
  • Expertise in all styles and types of homes spanning many historical eras
  • Assures a high-quality level of products and services
  • Fully licensed, bonded and insured in-house craftsmen
  • Provides in-home consultation
  • Offer warranties

Cons

  • Minor inconsistencies with project timeline
  • Quite expensive

If you want a window for your historic or mid-century home, we recommend Bridgetown Window & Door for your consideration. They have a wide selection for this kind of style and we do like the majority of what they have on the table.

For that to happen, we found out that they use the major window brands on the market: Marvin and Milgard. This is pretty amazing on our part since the said brands are two of the largest names in home windows and doors in the Portland metro.

To give you a brief idea of their style, these brands are available with both old-world detailing and modern profiles, giving you the best of both worlds. With that being said, you can choose among their complete lines of aluminum, fiberglass, vinyl, and wood-clad windows.

When it comes to the installation process, although there were a few reported issues (delays in the project timeline), they still deliver it on a high-quality level. We can confidently say this since they have fully licensed, bonded, and insured in-house craftsmen.

They also do an in-home consultation (which obviously won our favor) at your most convenient time. We see this as a good thing since they can personally help you with the best solution for your project, plus, establishing your budget.

Speaking of which, unfortunately, the feedback they received reflects a poor rate on their pricing system. Although their rate is quite demanding, on the other hand, you can surely count on the warranties (vary slightly from manufacture) they provide.

Pros

  • Over six decades of experience and expertise in the field
  • Product are backed by the industry-leading Limited Lifetime Warranty
  • Handles all facets of window installation
  • Provides financing options
  • Deals and discounts available,
  • Free quotation

Cons

  • Few cases of unsatisfied customers (regarding small damage on installation)

Nowadays, some of us do business with companies who not only provide satisfaction guarantees but also are financially-friendly. With Champion Replacement Windows of Portland, you can have the best of both.

To start with, they determine the best financing options (60 months of low-interest financing is our favorite) for your project. There are also specials and deals you use, making them pretty considerable if we are talking about practicality.

On the other hand, their quality of work, unsurprisingly, passed our standards. Specifically, you can count on them to handle all facets of an expert installation from scheduling up until the end process, including cleaning up.

But not all their work is done smoothly according to the combined result of our conducted interview and their reviews. Unfortunately, there were a couple of incidents reporting a small amount of damage at the end of the installation.

This is very concerning on our part seeing that it affects the overall service. Eventually, as we’ve heard, they were quick to amend the situation, and clients were left with a guarantee of satisfaction, which on the brighter side, shows how responsible they are.

Finally, even after all the drawbacks we’ve mentioned, we still see them as a recommendable window installation company. After all, their windows are constructed and tested using modern practices, meaning, their products’ durability is promised.
