Pear Foot and Ankle stood out to us for offering a mix of traditional and minimally invasive techniques for bunion correction. The team tailors treatment plans to each patient, which is important because bunions can vary widely in structure and complexity.

We also appreciate that their doctors perform thorough evaluations and imaging before recommending surgery. This helps patients feel reassured and that they’re receiving the most suitable procedure.

Another thing that caught our attention is the clinic’s focus on restoring the function and mobility of its patients rather than simply removing the bunion. Patients loved that the team provided guidance and tips to help them move more easily afterward.

From our conversations with patients, the staff seems very helpful and friendly as well. Many praised the team for creating a non-intimidating space, which helped reduce their anxiety before the appointments.

We’re just disappointed to hear that the clinic sometimes changes the schedule after an appointment is booked online. It can add to the inconvenience patients already suffer because of their bunion.

Broadway Foot & Ankle Clinic earned a spot on our list for its strong emphasis on trying non-surgical treatment before recommending surgery. This approach is ideal for patients who want to explore conservative options first before committing to surgery.

Their well-experienced podiatry team also stood out during our review. Patients told us the doctors take their time to carefully evaluate each case before creating treatment plans.

Several patients also highlighted the supportive nature of the surgeons. One patient even told us that their doctor continued to check on their recovery well after the procedure.

Their clinic also feels comfortable, with comfy seating and a clean environment. Add to that their helpful and friendly office staff, giving a smoother experience for patients.

Just one thing to note is that this clinic is relatively small, with a limited number of surgeons, so appointment availability may be limited.

Northwest Extremity Specialists is one of the clinics we found with a large multidisciplinary team that combines podiatry, orthopaedics, and physical therapy.

Apart from that, they offer advanced surgical care, which we found especially helpful for those with more complex bunion cases. 

Plus, their integrated post-surgery recovery support gives patients access to rehabilitation and mobility training without having to travel to a different facility. 

It’s also convenient that they have multiple locations. This allows patients to schedule consultations and follow-ups with the clinic closest to them.

From what we’ve heard, their doctors also communicate well. Patients noted that their doctors explained their case and treatment options clearly, helping them feel more confident and at ease throughout the process.

Just a potential downside is that the front office of their Hoyt Street location can get quite busy at times, affecting their scheduling and check-in services.

For a more personalised experience, the Oregon Institute of Foot Care is worth considering. It’s a small boutique single-surgeon clinic, which gives that focused feel rather than a clinical one.

Patients also said they love this setup because they get to work directly with the same doctor throughout the entire process. This also provides an experience that’s more consistent and attentive than at larger clinics.

However, since it’s a single-surgeon clinic, expect that there’s limited availability. It’s better to book as early as you can.

On the bright side, they offer in-office diagnostic imaging for faster and more accurate service. The faster and more accurate a diagnosis is, the quicker the doctor can create a treatment plan for patients.

Also, patients seem to appreciate the welcoming clinic environment and kind staff. In fact, patients said the doctor took the time to listen carefully and explain the next steps, while remaining sensitive to their preferences.

With 24 years under his belt, Dr Barnes of Barnes Foot and Ankle is hard to ignore. This level of long-standing experience can make a big difference when it comes to treating bunions of different severity.

Upon checking more, we also learned that patient education is a big priority here. Dr Barnes takes time to have a one-on-one discussion with his patients regarding their condition and treatment options available.

Patients also love this thoughtful approach, sharing that they received helpful treatment and advice that improved their mobility. Others also commended Dr Barne’s warm approach, saying that he’s genuinely invested in helping patients.

Staff are also personable. They check in patients quickly and are very responsive to queries and concerns.

The only drawback is that it’s a small private practice, which means fewer appointment slots compared with larger clinics.
