The 5 Best IVF Portland Treatments to Start the Family You’ve Been Dreaming Off

Clinics: We picked places that kept their facilities spotless and had expert, certified staff and verifiable IVF experience.

Transparency: We pressed each clinic for clear price breakdowns on IVF treatments, so you’re not left guessing about costs before you sign up.

Doctors: We listened to real stories from patients. We focused on doctors who paid attention, cared about each person, and didn’t treat everyone the same way.

Success: We analyzed the success rates of patients we spoke to. If a clinic had high success rates and helped more people beat the IVF odds, they made our list.

IVF can feel like a marathon you never agreed to run. It’s draining, lonely, and full of moments where you wonder if it’s even worth it.

We heard from people whose odd cycle patterns got shrugged off by doctors who just handed them the same plan as everyone else. Others got sold on flashy package deals, only to be left stranded when the meds didn’t work as promised.

To save you from wasting months and money on clinics that don’t work, we looked into Portland’s IVF scene. We talked to patients and clinics to find out which places actually give people real hope.

Pinnacle Fertility pairs each couple with a single fertility specialist for a virtual one-on-one consult, and that same doctor sticks with them the whole way.

We like this because it ensures that couples get the attention and focus they need during their IVF treatment. One couple told us the doctor answered questions almost instantly and even sent personalized calendar updates.

The initial consult covers all the bases. The specialist helps map out a plan that actually fits couples. They perform blood tests and an ultrasound to assess hormone levels, ovarian reserve, and overall reproductive health.

Throughout the IVF process, the care is hands-on. One patient going through ovarian stimulation said her doctor caught a hormone imbalance during routine bloodwork and tweaked her meds that same day, saving the cycle.

The doctors here are used to high-stakes cases too. Dr. Bankowski, for example, helped a patient through a single-embryo transfer that other clinics called too risky. She ended up with a healthy baby despite her complicated history.

But the clinic’s weekday-only responses are a letdown for anyone who needs help on weekends. One patient mentioned this was a real headache for her.

Pros

  • Virtual one-on-one consults
  • Dedicated IVF specialist
  • Patiently answers questions
  • Personalized calendar updates
  • Hands-on IVF care
  • Good for high-stakes cases

Cons

  • Weekday only responses

Doctors are so wonderful

“The whole team at ORM downtown (now Pinnacle) from the coordinators to the nurses and doctors are so wonderful. They helped my husband and I understand the processes and procedures every step of the way. Fertility treatment was such a foreign and scary concept to us, but the team put us at ease. We were very lucky with our first round of IVF, which gave us our son, and are hoping to be as lucky with our upcoming round and grow our family by one more. Thank you all!”

Communication was always easy and thorough

“I have had three pregnancies via IVF over the last 6 years working with ORM. They have always been kind and professional. But I was shocked this time around at how streamlined the whole process has become. Communication was always easy and thorough. My questions were answered quickly and thoroughly. I never sat on hold – almost all scheduling and med instructions were text conversations. Not a minute of my time was wasted when I came for appointments. I was called back within 30 seconds to 5 minutes of being checked in. And the phlebotomists didn’t miss once. I absolutely recommend ORM. Shout out to Julie – my amazing patient navigator and Dr. Hesla, a wizard at what he does and a calming presence when dealing with the stress and unknowns of infertility.”

Spring Fertility accepts ultrasounds and testing every day, even on holidays. This shows they get just how time-sensitive IVF can be.

Their team helps couples stick to their IVF goals and builds a plan that actually fits into their lives, rather than making them work around it.

The doctors here are attentive and genuinely compassionate. They include couples in every decision, so they never feel left out of the process.

The IVF testing takes about four weeks, but the doctors keep patients in the loop with updates as soon as results come in.

One couple shared that they appreciated the constant message updates so they didn’t have to waste time coming into the clinic before ovarian stimulation.

Patient care is spot-on throughout the IVF process too. Their patient portal is packed with IVF resources, plus there’s a dedicated chat channel for questions.

One patient told us she never waits long for a reply—usually less than a day when she messages through the portal.

Our only minor gripe is the waiting room. When it gets crowded, it feels stuffy—almost like being packed in a can of sardines.

Pros

  • Testing even on holidays
  • Helps build an IVF plan that works
  • Attentive and compassionate doctors
  • Constant updates
  • Packed patient portal

Cons

  • Crowded waiting room

He took the time to explain every step of the IVF process,

“I can’t say enough wonderful things about this clinic and the entire team! From the moment we walked in, we were treated with compassion, professionalism, and genuine care. Dr. Fisher was amazing. He took the time to explain every step of the IVF process, making sure we understood and felt comfortable throughout.

We did experience a few setbacks getting my husband’s vials sent over, but the staff handled everything with care and kept us updated until it was all resolved. Their communication and dedication made what could have been stressful feel manageable and supported.

I’m so grateful to have been referred to this clinic and this amazing team!”

End to end the communication was prompt and top notch

“Dr. Fisher and his team including Haley, Sarina and Melanie did an excellent job. End to end the communication was prompt and top notch. This team worked smoothly together around complex timelines to make sure I fully understood the process well ahead of time and worked things around my personal and work schedule. When the pharmacy failed to send me an injection pen, they made themselves available on the weekend to pick it up from the clinic. Dr. Fisher ran my IVF cycle and retrieved 28 eggs at age 37 with no pre-existing issues. This resulted in 4 grade A embryos that were genetically euploid. Very happy with the result and would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Fisher and Spring to family and friends.”

Oregon Fertility Institute keeps things refreshingly simple with its clear, wallet-friendly payment plans. We liked how they lay out IVF costs up front, which takes a lot of the stress out of an already overwhelming process.

We can see their flexibility in how they treat patients. Dr. Aimee S. Chang, the IVF specialist, listens and gives people a real chance, even if they’re older.

Dr. Chang goes all in for her patients. One woman told us that when she was anxious about IVF, Dr. Chang didn’t just brush it off. She met with her every week for extra ultrasounds and check-ins, which made the whole process feel less overwhelming.

What stood out to us was that Dr. Chang didn’t tack on extra charges for all those extra ultrasounds and appointments.

The only hiccup is the wait time. Some people said they were called in almost right away, while others found themselves clock-watching for half an hour or more.

Pros

  • Payment plans
  • Gives older patients a chance
  • Extra ultrasounds and check-ins
  • Attentive to patients

Cons

  • Wait time is hit or miss

“We transitioned our care to Dr. Chang after working with another local clinic for several years and multiple failed IVF attempts. I wish I had done that sooner. Dr. Chang is incredibly kind, knowledgeable and truly wants to help you succeed. She is genuinely a good human being and an excellent doctor. She took time to understand our situation, stayed with us through several ups and downs of the journey, and when it was time for us to finally be able to have another cycle, she helped us succeed in the very first attempt with her. She was so meticulous and thoughtful about putting her best foot forward with the protocol she put me on. She works with her patients, listens to them and never ever dismisses them or their concerns. It was an absolute pleasure working with her. I can’t recommend her enough!”

“I was a patient of Dr Chang for a little over a year and a half and became very familiar on how her clinic and staff operates – This is a small clinic and because of this, I never felt like another number, Dr Chang always heard my concerns and gave me multiple treatment options with the corresponding success rates. I never had to wait long period of times to be seen, never felt rushed during my appointments and always got blood work results within a couple of hours. At the end, we had to do IVF, which can be overwhelming with all the different medications that you need to take, however, her staff always answered my questions and provided an updated schedule that was easy to keep track. Dr. Chang is conservative on her approach and prefers to do multiple ultrasounds and blood work, but this is something that I really appreciated as any person going through infertility can confirm that this is a stressful, emotional and anxious situation so being able to have the comfort of extra tests worked for us. At the end, the treatment worked! And we are currently almost 18 weeks pregnant with our baby which I’m not sure it would have ever happened without the help of Dr. Chang and her clinic.”

At Northwest Fertility Center, Dr. Eugene Stoelk stood out for her honesty. She only recommends what’s needed, which saves couples stress and money.

We liked how he takes the time to review patient histories. One patient told us her repeated miscarriages had been brushed off elsewhere, but here, Dr. Stoelk listened and dug into the details.

He doesn’t pile on extra tests unless they’re needed. One patient said she appreciated not being handed a laundry list of tests. Instead, he walked her through the IVF process and explained the meds she’d need.

One couple told us that after six failed IUIs at other clinics, they had success on their first IVF transfer here, even though they had only a few viable embryos. That kind of precision is what sets this place apart.

We also liked how the team keeps communication up. One patient valued that Northwest’s staff replied to emails and messages, even on weekends.

Not everything is perfect, though. Some patients didn’t love being told bluntly they had to lose weight. One woman said she lost weight for six months but still didn’t meet the clinic’s threshold.

While Dr. Stoelk’s caution makes sense medically, this policy could turn away people already racing the clock.

Pros

  • Only recommends what’s needed
  • Reviews patient history
  • Doesn’t pile on extra tests
  • Keeps communication up

Cons

  • Bluntness turns away some people

Had all our questions answered

Our fertility journey started us at another clinic in Portland. Our experience there led us to find a different doctor as we did not feel heard, or comfortable with the provider at the other clinic. Dr. Stoelk and his team are all amazing and we felt at home at Northwest Fertility. I was listened to and discovered on of the contributing factors to our infertility was that I had stage IV endometriosis. We went through the IVF process and had all our questions answered along the way. Dr. Stoelk prayed with us at each transfer we did, and after our second transfer we had success! Our hopes and dreams dreams and prayers were answered with the help of this clinic and Dr. Stoelk and we will be forever thankful for their assistance in growing our family.

Am forever grateful for the hard work

What an absolutely amazing clinic! I can not express how grateful I am for Dr. Stoelk and his entire mighty staff! The entire team made me and my husbands experience so personal and comfortable. This team truly care about their patients! The clinic comes highly recommended, if I could give more stars I would! After many years of trying, Dr. Stoelk took his time to look into my case and was able to diagnose me with Endometriosis without me even knowing I had it. Something my OBGYN never mentioned. After treatment and trying to convince we are now expecting our baby boy this December. I am forever grateful for the hard work and support from this team!

Blossom Clinic is where Liz Richards, the specialist here, puts her 20-plus years of acupuncture experience to work on the emotional and physical rollercoaster of IVF.

What we really like is that she doesn’t charge you just to pick up the phone. Blossom gives patients a free 10-minute consult and sets aside time for proper fertility sessions.

One patient told us that during their consult call, Liz listened attentively and showed real interest in their IVF story.

It’s not just about the needles, either. She’ll suggest a dieting tweak, a new herbal tea, or even a breathing exercise—all matched to whatever stage of IVF her patients are in.

We also like how Liz’s IVF acupuncture helps regulate IVF anxiety. One woman we spoke to said Liz’s sessions before her egg retrieval helped her keep anxiety in check. After years of failed attempts, she finally had a successful embryo transfer.

That said, Blossom isn’t exactly easy on the wallet. One of her clients, who was paying out of pocket, told us she almost stopped after six sessions, just because of the price.

Pros

  • 20+ years of IVF acupuncture
  • Free 10-minute consult
  • Tailored advice for IVF patients
  • Helps regulate IVF cycles

Cons

  • Expensive

She was always so supportive and honest

“I started going to Liz in August of 2022, two years into our infertility journey. In September 2023 our first embryo transfer was successful and I don’t think it would have been possible without Blossom Clinic. I looked forward to my appointment every week and updating Liz on the good, bad and ugly parts of the IVF process. She was always so supportive and honest. Will 100% be back in the future for baby #2!”

She is a lovely, nurturing practitioner and has specialized in fertility acupuncture

“I highly recommend Liz for anyone going through a fertility journey. She helped me get pregnant (first pregnancy, age 39) on my second IVF cycle. The first cycle I tried, without Liz, was unsuccessful. When I was pregnant and feeling ill, her treatments helped my nausea. When I was to be induced early at 37 weeks, she helped me get 2.5 cm dilated (!!!) through her treatments over the week before. She is a lovely, nurturing practitioner and has specialized in fertility acupuncture for over 20 years so is a pro. I can’t thank Liz enough for her help and guidance over the past few years into motherhood.”
