When it comes to fitness, results matter to us a lot. But what matters more is the journey and tools that enable clients to get there – and that’s why Hyatt Training is on our list because it ticked off a lot of what we’re looking for.
Let’s move straight away to their one-on-one personal training sessions that focus on 5 key areas: exercise, strength, stress management, nutrition, and sleep. In our opinion, this approach makes the fitness plans more holistic for the clients.
Subscribing to their services brings a lot of benefits, as far as convenience and perks go. For instance, clients get free access to their personal training studio which has 6 different training areas and fully-packed locker rooms.
Even those who prefer virtual setups can enjoy their services through the Hyatt Training app. In general, they can use this to track their training sessions, change goals, and get access to thousands of fitness resources.
Remote workouts start for as low as $38 a month but it only includes a 15-minute strategy session daily. If you want something more intensive, prepare at least $352 per month for weekly one-on-one training sessions.
These 50-minute weekly sessions are, of course, also available in-person (you get a dedicated trainer and a personalized fitness plan. They also have weekly workouts that introduce routines outside of your plan, just to push your body at its core.

The journey is just as important as the destination and it’s what drove us towards Portland Personal Training & Weight Loss. This gym, in our opinion, is just the slice you need if you’re intimidated by the typical gym culture.
Their one-on-one personal training is just as private as you’d expect – with a customized fitness plan for you. Sessions can last between 30 to 55 minutes, but it all depends on how much training you need per session and per week.
What makes this private training advantageous is that clients are in control of their time. They’re free to choose whatever is the best location and time for them, making this a favorable option for our busy friends out there.
Speaking of free, you don’t have to pay for your very first sessions here (although other gyms offer this benefit too. What makes this slightly different is that you can enjoy the first session as long as time permits.
Their rates are also affordable (considering how expensive training is) with all their training packages. To give you a sample, they have a buy 2 get 1 free session for only $138 – definitely so much less than what you’ll generally have to pay.
For our final note, we do like that they have small group training sessions for an opportunity to interact. It’s limited to 10 or fewer attendees, you’ll work out on your own (but within the group), and you still receive personal attention.

Pros
- Offers 3 different tiers of membership plans
- Able to mix and match virtual and in-person training
- Offers training packages based on the number of sessions
- Reasonable rate for memberships and packages
- Comprehensive yet flexible membership plans
- Solid fitness results according to clients
- Ability to choose a dedicated trainer
Cons
- Trial session isn’t free
Fitness training is a serious commitment, that’s why we also looked for long-term opportunities for trainers. Luckily, we found StudioX and see that their offerings are ideal for personal training in the long run.
The reason why we considered this is because of their comprehensive membership plans. The lowest tier starts at 4 months and the highest tier goes up to 12 months (by the way, if you purchase during your trial, you get 15% off any membership).
We have no qualms with the costs as well as we find them reasonable (the cheapest starts at $264 per month. Plus, you can actually share the membership with a partner, friend, or family – pretty as one session is good for one person.
In addition to the memberships, the gym also offers packages, which is great if you already know how many sessions you want. Like the memberships, you can also mix and match virtual and in-person training.
Trials here aren’t free and they do charge $30 for their fundamental session. On the bright side, it does give clients enough time to assess whether the trainer is right for them (often this luxury is stripped away in other studios.
Fitness plans are naturally personalized and focus on intense workout sessions. If that sounds about something you’d enjoy, you may want to check them out for yourself.

Pros
- In-home training for every age, size, and fitness level
- Centers in strength training up into nutritional support
- Offers remote sessions
- Available for outdoor and indoor workouts
- Smooth appointment process
- Competitive service rates
Cons
- Strict cancellation policy
Evolve Integrative Personal Training provides in-home training for every age, size, and fitness level. This and their five-star rating on both Yelp and Google Reviews make them highly recommendable in our opinion.
First things first, their set-up for private training services combines their client’s physical and emotional health. Apart from this holistic approach, these can also be taken anytime which is pretty much a great convenience.
They also bring the needed equipment suitable to the unique training program specially designed to clients’ fitness goals. To give you an idea, their program usually includes strength training, cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, and nutritional support.
We also appreciate the fact that they do remote sessions (via Zoom or FaceTime) which gives us an impression of how flexible they are. If the session is face-to-face, they make sure to implement safety protocols – be it outdoor or indoor workouts.
Their rates, as we see, are just as competitive, seeing that a 60-minute single session will cost $80 (remote training is $65 per session). However, if you work with them for a package session (5 sessions/10 sessions), a discount of $3 to $5 is on the table.
For additional information, they are very strict with cancellations (late cancellations may be charged). This, in our opinion, is very reasonable given that they provide a smooth appointment process anyway, plus it’s pretty normal.

Pros
- Centers in providing personal training for strong body build up
- In-house certified and experienced personal coaches
- Free initial training sessions for newbies
- Non-intimidating and equipped environment
- Offers remote training sessions
- Competitive pricing system
Cons
- Minor issues regarding communication
If you’re looking for a place to help you get “ripped”, we recommend Sandbothe Strong. Their “strong” personal coaches are trained for tougher routines, but they’re also very open to complete beginners looking to get fit.
Speaking of coaches, we are confident enough to say you’re in great hands if you choose to work with them. They have three professional coaches in-house who are all certified and have years of experience in the field.
Additionally, what we like most about them is the way they prepare their new members for long-term success. For instance, newbies have the chance to get a free training session before officially joining them that will follow a regular training schedule.
At the same time, clients can enjoy the non-intimidating environment that the gym offers. Apart from the necessary tools, they also provide comprehensive yet unique individualized training – a good start in our humble opinion.
For the matter of creativity (and comfort), they also take their workouts online, which wins us over, like other personal trainers in the area. But if you prefer face-to-face interaction, then that’s also possible here.
Although we don’t have the exact or estimated cost per session, reviews have shown they’re reasonable with the fees. For your convenience, their rates vary by individual ability, need, and training frequency.
