Pros

  • Good quality of service
  • Good record of customer loyalty
  • Understanding towards clients’ situations
  • Has online client portal
  • Good communicators

Cons

  • Service may vary based on advisor
  • Fairly young business

Bridgetown Wealth Management has already been able to build a good customer record despite only starting in 2017. While a young company, you won’t have to worry about their advisors because they have 60 years of collective experience!

Their advisors are smart and thoughtful. Before they can start helping you manage your finances, they ask you questions to understand your situation and where you’re coming from.

Some of these questions may be what your financial goals are, your risk tolerance, and what you need them for. They use this information to create a feasible financial plan for you, one that benefits you and one that you’re comfortable with.

Many of the clients we’ve spoken to approached Bridgetown Wealth Management to manage their retirement accounts, and they’re all pleased.

The services have allowed them to feel safer for their future, and some have said they can now retire earlier!

But what ultimately convinced us to put them on this list is their dedication to their clients. They don’t just create a financial plan for you and wait for you to call but keep you updated and are constantly in touch.

That being said, they’re always ready to take your calls and answer any of your questions. A bonus to their services is the seminars they hold to broaden your financial knowledge.

Even if you’re not yet set on choosing which financial advisor you want to handle your finances, they’re worth a call. But we suggest that you request their most senior advisors to get the best service.

Younger advisors may not have the financial acuity that their senior counterparts have. Some of the latter’s knowledge can only be gained through experience.

Pros

  • Fee-only services
  • Has online client portal
  • Highly responsive
  • Good communicators
  • Takes a fiduciary oath
  • Has a realistic approach

Cons

  • Only takes in pre-retirement/retirement clients
  • Only has two financial advisors

When it comes to transparency, Interactive Wealth Advisors gets our pick. Their fees are available on their site for you to check out, and they even take a fiduciary oath to put your best interests as their priority.

We admire how easy it is to get information from them and their services. When you call to inquire about their services, they answer all your questions without you feeling they’re delivering a sales pitch.

If you become their client, you won’t feel pressured into any decision or choice. They’re very interactive in their approach, laying out all the options and possible outcomes to ensure you choose the best thing for you.

They’re also realistic and don’t give you false promises on your financial goals. Instead, their plans are based on your current situation, your risk tolerance, and the assessment of your assets.

However, they only have two financial advisors, so they might not always be available, but each client of theirs will get their full attention.

You’ll also be pleased to know that both their advisors are certified financial planners with years of experience.

One last thing: they only take in pre-retirement or retirement clients, so if that isn’t where you are, please look at the other options on this list. But if this is what you’re looking for, then they’re a good partner to help you plan your financial security.

Pros

  • Fee-only services
  • Genuinely cares for his clients
  • Quick to respond
  • Good communicator
  • Organized and details
  • Accommodating to his clients’ needs

Cons

  • One-person business
  • No online client portal

Despite only being a one-person team, David Beck has built a great rapport with his clients over the 15 years he’s been in business. In fact, most of his clients we’ve spoken to say they felt like he genuinely cared for them and their financial security.

David takes in clients requiring different services, but the majority of the people we’ve spoken to said they hired him for college financial planning and tax services. We believe it’s the former where David really shines.

He has a keen understanding of the college application process and helps families go through financial aid planning.

Additionally, he gives financial evaluations for each college your kid is considering for you to know how your expenses should be allocated.

However, he still excels in the other services he does. We attribute his excellence to his compassion for clients. He understands that people will have different habits and beliefs about what they want to save and what they want to spend.

As we said, he only runs his business alone, so you won’t have a full office staff to assist you. But David isn’t deterred by that and responds promptly to each person who calls.

People also appreciate his rates, and while they vary by the service you require, they’re reasonable and affordable for families and individuals. If you’re working within a strict budget, you can ask him for a cost estimate in your first phone call.

Lastly, David can do the bulk of your tax services, so if you plan to hire him for tax season, make sure you call early.

Pros

  • Large company means more staff
  • Highly responsive
  • Has locations nationwide
  • Can handle large businesses
  • Has online client portal

Cons

  • High turnover of advisors means you will change advisors
  • Not fee-only

With 12 locations nationwide, Empirical Wealth Management is the largest business on our list. So if you have multiple residences or are looking to move in between states, you may want to consider them.

Their large size allows them to have multiple advisors on their roster who can take you in as a client. In addition, their set structure means there’s always going to be someone who can pick up your calls and attend to your needs.

In our opinion, Empirical Wealth Management is better equipped for those looking to hire financial advisors for their businesses.

With accountants, financial advisors, and estate attorneys working for them, they’re ready for any service a business may need.

While they do take in individuals and families, they’re not the most affordable for that demographic. Additionally, if you’re specifically looking for fee-only services, you’re better off with other options on this list.

However, they offer free consultations through their website if you’re interested in availing of their services. This way, you can assess whether they’re a good fit for what you’re looking for and if it’s within your budget.

We’ve also found their financial advisors and overall staff competent and well-trained. Our only gripe is the high staff turnover in their company, which means you most likely will change advisors if your current one quits.

So if you want a financial advisor that can stay with you for years, they may not be your best bet. But if you’re a business owner looking to expand nationwide and need a wide staff roster, they might just be what you need.

Pros

  • Fee-only services
  • Has online client portal
  • Competent staff
  • Timely and prompt to respond
  • Good service to clients

Cons

  • A bit on the pricey side
  • Service may vary based on advisor

JGP Wealth Management caught our attention when we realized their heart for serving the community. They support over 20 charities by volunteering, donating, or serving on their boards.

Their wide range of services covers almost any service you may need as a private individual or business owner. Among all those on this list, they’re the only ones who list philanthropic strategies as one of their services!

They have 17 staff members, from advisors to associates, which means they’ve got enough people to attend to your needs. In addition, if you plan to hire a financial advisor from them, you’ll be secured because all of their advisors are certified.

We’ve found their advisors to be knowledgeable and well-trained. They’re aware of the current economic situation and give you options that fit your risk tolerance and financial goals.

In our opinion, their dedication to serving their community is the reason for their success. They take in almost any kind of client with no portfolio requirements, and they’re personable to each client they have.

They pride themselves on empowering their clients and assisting them to reach their dreams in all aspects. Other than ensuring you’ll have financial security, they also want you to be able to enjoy the money you’ve earned and saved.

While they may charge a bit higher, they don’t take commissions or sell any other product or service.

But worry not—most of those we’ve spoken to have been happy with the services they got from JGP Wealth Management, and don’t plan to switch advisors anytime soon.
